Python Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Python Engineer, who will develop, enhance and maintain cloud‑based data pipelines and the DA Workspace infrastructure, enabling large‑scale ingestion, processing and analysis of sensor data from smartphones and wearables to accelerate digital biomarker research and clinical development.

What you will do:

• Architecture & Development - Design and implement scalable, maintainable Python applications and microservices within the CDPS ecosystem.
• System Optimization - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the codebase, optimize cloud resource usage (Azure), and ensure system reliability.
• Technical Collaboration - Work closely with Data Scientists, Engineers and Product Managers to translate complex analytical requirements into efficient technical implementations.
• Code Quality & DevOps - Lead by example in software best practices, including CI/CD automation, and rigorous code reviews.
• Lifecycle Management - Support the full software development lifecycle in a regulated environment, ensuring that code meets both performance and compliance standards.

What we are looking for:

Core Technical Skills:

• Expert-level proficiency in Python (specifically for data-intensive applications)
• Experience using modern tools in Python, like Poetry, and optionally UV

Cloud & Infrastructure:

• Proven experience building on cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS)
• Strong hands-on experience working with Linux virtual machines in cloud environments
• Proficiency with Linux command-line tools and shell scripting (Bash or similar)
• Familiarity with process management, cron jobs, logging systems, and service monitoring
• Ability to troubleshoot performance and runtime issues directly on Linux hosts
• Experience in Infrastructure as a Code is a big plus (Terraform/Pulumi, Bicep)

Data Engineering:

• Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)

Software Craftsmanship:

• Proficient in DevOps best practices, including CI/CD, version control, and robust unit testing with pytest

Agile Mindset:

• Experience working in an Agile (Kanban/Scrum) environment, with the ability to turn Jira tickets into high-quality technical deliverables

Problem Solving:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to debug complex, distributed systems and optimize for both latency and throughput

Communication:

• Ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and document architectural decisions clearly in Confluence
