Job Summary
The Sourcing Manager for Fresh Produce Fruits will oversee the procurement and trading operations of fresh produce, ensuring a seamless flow from sourcing to delivery. This role requires strong coordination, negotiation, and organizational skills to build supplier relationships, manage logistics, and facilitate trading activities. He/she must possess a thorough understanding of the fresh produce industry and demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Sourcing and Relationship Management
Identify and establish partnerships with reliable suppliers and growers of fresh produce fruits.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a consistent supply chain.
Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and client needs.
Plan and manage the transportation of fresh produce, ensuring timely delivery while minimizing costs and maintaining product quality.
Collaborate with logistics providers to optimize shipping schedules and routes.
Monitor compliance with food safety and handling regulations during transport and storage.
- Trading and Market Analysis
Research market trends, demand forecasts, and pricing strategies to inform trading decisions.
Identify potential buyers and negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and mutually beneficial agreements.
Analyze trading data to optimize profitability and identify growth opportunities.
- Coordination and Monitoring
Serve as the primary point of contact between suppliers, logistics providers, and buyers.
Track and monitor the movement of goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
Address and resolve any issues related to sourcing, logistics, or trading in a timely manner.
Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure fruits meet company and regulatory standards.
Conduct regular supplier audits and inspections to maintain quality consistency.
Handle any quality issues or complaints from clients and implement corrective measures.
- Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and maintain accurate records of procurement, trading activities, and logistics operations.
Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate supply chain efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in sourcing, trading, and/or logistics, preferably in the fresh produce industry.
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of fresh produce quality standards, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements is a plus.
Work Environment
This role may require travel to supplier locations, farms, and distribution centers.
A mix of office-based and fieldwork activities will be involved.
