Senior Full Stack Engineer role on an AI-native team building modern B2B tax software, where you will own features end-to-end, establish robust Playwright E2E automation, and help shape how the team uses AI in engineering workflows while partnering closely with founders and engineers to deliver scalable technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship production applications across the full stack using Next.js, React, Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
- Design, build, and own the Playwright E2E automation framework, including test architecture, regression coverage, and CI integration.
- Own features throughout their full lifecycle, from solution design and implementation to testing, deployment, and post-release support.
- Make sound architectural and technical trade-off decisions independently.
- Perform constructive code reviews and help establish high engineering standards across the team.
- Identify inefficiencies in development and engineering processes and implement improvements.
- Establish appropriate automated test coverage across E2E, integration, and unit testing.
- Work closely with founders and stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Use AI tools daily for coding, debugging, planning, testing, documentation, and code review, and develop AI-powered workflows, prompts, automations, agents, or integrations to improve engineering productivity.
- Share effective AI practices and help improve the team's overall AI fluency.
- Contribute effectively in a small, collaborative environment where engineering, QA, DevOps, and product responsibilities may overlap.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience building and shipping production web applications.
- Strong production experience with React and Next.js.
- Strong backend development experience with Python and Django.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
- Hands-on Playwright E2E testing experience, preferably including designing and owning an automation suite from the ground up.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent).
- Hands-on AWS experience, particularly ECS/Fargate, RDS, and S3.
- Comfortable working in a Terraform-managed environment.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools as part of the daily software engineering workflow.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering trade-offs, and automated testing strategies.
- Experience owning features from design through production support.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working with an Australian-timezone team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and owning an E2E automation suite from the ground up.
- Experience developing AI-powered workflows, prompts, automations, agents, or integrations specifically to improve engineering productivity.
