Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Looker Lead to join our Data Lake team. As the Looker Lead, you will be responsible for handling a migration project from Tableau to Looker, leveraging your expertise in Looker, Power BI, and related technologies.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in the Pharmaceuticals and/or Warehouse Distribution industry, possess exceptional technical skills in developing reports, dashboards, and data models, and be proficient in MSSQL, NoSQL, and Postgres. Additionally, experience with Azure or GCP, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a strong aptitude for debugging will be crucial to succeeding in this role.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the migration project from Tableau to Looker, ensuring a seamless transition and optimal utilization of Lookers capabilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into effective visualizations and reports using Looker and Power BI
  • Develop and maintain robust LookML models
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive and insightful Looker dashboards and Looks
  • Manage Looker administration, including content, folders, and user access controls to ensure data security and governance
  • Develop, design, and maintain reports, dashboards, apps, and data models in Looker and Power BI
  • Utilize DAX, DAX Studio, and M language to create complex calculations, measures, and transformations
  • Use Power Query for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
  • Work with database systems such as MSSQL, NoSQL, Postgres, and SSMS to extract and analyze data
  • Use Azure or GCP for data storage, processing, and analysis
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging for data extraction, transformation, and visualization issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data analytics processes
  • Stay updated with trends and advancements in Power BI, Looker, and related technologies

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 to 6 years of professional experience in a data analytics environment
  • Experience working in a multinational company
  • Background in Pharmaceuticals and/or Warehouse Distribution industry is an advantage

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong experience with Looker, Power BI, SQL, DAX, Power Query, and functional/unit testing
  • Ability to connect to various data sources (APIs, RDBMS, Postgres, HANA, Azure Synapse, SharePoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the Full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Experience administering Power BI, including tenant configuration/setup and embedding analytics
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide technical and end-user support
  • Strong time management skills

Essential Skillset

  • Power BI: report development, dashboards, apps, dataflows, and data models
  • Looker: LookML modeling, dashboards, visualizations, administration, governance, embedding, and integration
  • LookML and BigQuery
  • Writing and optimizing derived tables for complex data transformations
  • Use of Liquid parameters and templated filters
  • M language and Power Query
  • MSSQL, NoSQL, Postgres, SSMS, and T-SQL
  • Experience with Azure or GCP
