The product you’ll work on: The INSO Portal

The INSO Portal is not a tool. It is a mission-critical platform.

It connects NGO partners, field teams, and HQ staff into a single secure ecosystem — ensuring the right information reaches the right people at the right time.

This is a long-term engineering product, not a short-term build-and-forget system. It evolves, scales, and adapts to operational reality.

What you will do

Build – Design and develop secure, reliable, and usable features across backend and frontend systems.

Own – Take full responsibility for what you build — from design decisions to production performance and long-term maintenance.

Collaborate – Work closely with engineers and operational teams to translate real field needs into robust technical solutions.

Evolve – Improve architecture, engineering practices, and system resilience as the platform grows.

Who You Are

You are a systems thinker and bring:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong problem-solving skills and systems thinking
• Solid grounding in software design and OOP principles
• Experience working with evolving requirements
• Clear communication in cross-functional teams
• Interest in product thinking and user impact
• A strong sense of responsibility for security and data integrity

Technical Foundations

We are looking for strong engineering fundamentals. You should have experience with:

• Java (Spring ecosystem)
• Angular or similar frontend frameworks
• MySQL or relational databases
• RESTful APIs and distributed systems
• Redis or caching mechanisms (nice to have)
• Docker / Kubernetes (plus, not required)

Terms

• Full-time, fixed-term (renewable) contract
• Based in The Hague or remote
• The Hague salary: EUR 5,200/month + 8% holiday allowance + 2.5 days leave/month
• Private health insurance (ONVZ) for staff and dependents (The Hague-based staff)
• International contracts aligned with INSO policy if based outside the Netherlands
• Candidates must have the legal right to work in their country of residence
