To work according to ICH GCP guidelines and research governance standards for clinical trials and current Standard Operating Procedures To manage, with the assistance and support of senior colleagues, a range of clinical trial protocols. To identify, screen and recruit participants into research studies according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the effective achievement of study aims and monitoring of their condition throughout participation. To register/randomise participants into trials. To identify barriers to recruitment and to raise awareness of these, reporting to the Senior Research Nurse/Lead Research Nurse. To support action plans as required. To act as the primary contact for the clinical trial participant in own caseload. Working with senior colleagues in obtaining informed consent as delegated by the Principal Investigator and in providing ongoing follow up care whilst the participant is in the clinical trial. To provide ongoing advice and information to participants with regard to their participation in clinical research, in order to facilitate continued informed consent. As a clinical research coordinator, you will be actively involved in coordinating clinical trial activities according to the study protocol and in compliance to the ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines and the Health Products (Therapeutic Products) Regulations under the Health Product Act.

You will support and assist the Principal Investigator in the following trial related activities:

• Patient screening and recruitment,
• Monitoring subject’s compliance to their treatment and follow-up,
• Data collection and management including resolving data discrepancies,
• Coordinating the collection of biological specimens,
• Monitoring of adverse events and safety reporting,
• Maintaining and organising of investigator site files, preparation and submissions to the ethics committee and relevant local health authorities,

To work in partnership with the PI, wider research and clinical teams at all stages of patient recruitment and participation in research studies. To provide verbal and written information to patients considering participation, answer their questions and refer to the PI/CI for additional information when required. To facilitate the informed consent of a participant (appropriate to age and level of understanding) during the recruitment process in accordance with ICH-GCP and other guidelines. To undertake clinical procedures with study participants according to the research protocol, including, but not exclusively: taking bloods; ordering tests and investigations; administering medication; and undertaking examinations. To obtain clinical specimens from participants, store and package them and organise their safe and timely delivery to the appropriate laboratory according to the research protocol and regulatory guidance. To liaise with clinical staff to ensure the timely administration of investigation, treatment and follow-up required for research studies. The Opportunity:

They will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and self-motivation to deliver the health data research projects. This post is full-time (40 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

The Victor Horsley Department of Neurosurgeryprovides a comprehensive elective and emergency neurosurgical service for the UCLH Trust, a large area of North Central and West London and its associated hospitals and the local community/GPs. In addition, there are large numbers of National and International referrals to specialist Neurosurgical services.

This post offers a unique opportunity as the successful candidate will be an integral part of the Hydrocephalus surgical team. The post is fixed term for 1 year which is suitable for a post-CCT (or equivalent) neurosurgical trainee who wishes to develop their skills and gain experience of hydrocephalus neurosurgery in a major centre of excellence.

Responsibilities of the post include participation in the neurosurgery clinics, perioperative and post-operative management of Hydrocephalus patients and being an integral member of hydrocephalus multidisciplinary team.

There is an expectation that you would have dedicated time for professional supervision and development of trainee/junior doctors within the department, undertake research, publish in peer reviewed journals and present at National &/or International conferences. The post is an ideal stepping-stone for an experienced trainee to gain further experience in complex adult hydrocephalus surgery.
