The Role

Working as a member of the Coolamon Team, the Research Assistant will provide a professional level of research support to the ICARE Research Program (a NHMRC funded program aimed at providing coordinated and culturally responsive wraparound continuity of care to women and their infants, from pregnancy to 18 months post-birth).

Supporting the Coolamon Navigator, you will undertake recruitment, enrolling and consenting participants, data collection (including a 12-month post-birth study visit) and managing relationships with participating health services in the ICARE Program Perth metropolitan sites. Further key responsibilities for the role include:

• Working effectively in diverse settings (e.g. ACCHO , hospitals/health services), liaising with stakeholders, health care professionals, researchers, study investigators and colleagues,
• Undertaking research activities as directed, including:
  • Organising and following up potential research participants,
  • Undertaking enrolment and informed consent of participants into ICARE program,
  • Referring participants for the care package and supporting their participation,
  • Attending, and supporting consultation workshops,

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Provides administrative and clinical support for the implementation and conduct of clinical trials under the direct supervision of the

Principal Investigator (PI), Director, and other site personnel as applicable. Responsible for the collection and submission of

regulatory documents, performance of study specific procedures, regulatory reporting requirements as instructed by the PI and

governed by Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ICH guidelines, and assisting with ongoing study activity.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with obtaining and preparing regulatory/essential documents throughout the duration of a study including, but not limited to, FDA 1572, CVs, professional licensure, financial disclosure forms and IRB submission forms.
• Under close supervision, ensures documents and forms are compiled and submitted in a timely manner to the CRO, study sponsor or IRB as applicable.
• Assists with maintaining constant communication with Institutional Review Boards, study sponsors, dialysis facility, practice and field staff as necessary to ensure timely study start-up or the effective and efficient progression of the study.
• Assists with the contracting process, document preparation and execution as required during study start-up activities and throughout the duration of a study.
• Under close supervision, interfaces with potential study subjects for the purpose of promoting participation in research studies.
• Assists with the screening of subjects for participation eligibility using inclusion/exclusion criteria as outlined in the study protocol and under the direction of the PI.

• Obtains and updates essential documents for specific studies, as necessary.
• Attends clinical research-related training as required.
• Assists with study close-out activities as directed by PI.

• Completes the clinical trials management system and electronic/paper case report forms in an accurate and timely manner.

• Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.

Job Description:

Position Purpose:

The research assistant (RA) will assist in conducting a project that involves studying how green space is associated with sleep and mental health in children. The study involves working with children in order to assess their exposure to green spaces, sleep behavior and mental health through the wearing of devices and administration of surveys. Work activities will involve traveling within Rhode Island to perform data collection visits with participants and their guardians either at their residence or neutral off-site locations, conducting in-person or zoom-based research qualitative interviews, programming and administering surveys, managing participant compensation, and aiding recruitment efforts through flyer distribution and collection, and social media management.
