Job Title: Senior Manager/Associate Director – Hotels, Capital Markets

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan to grow the hotel vertical in Capital Markets, including identifying market opportunities, developing marketing strategies, and building client relationships.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including pitching and negotiating deals, to expand the firm's hotel business.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, and Research, to develop and execute strategies to drive business growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including hotel owners, operators, and developers, to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the hotel industry, and provide insights and recommendations to clients.

• Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

• Collaborate with external partners, including hotel associations, industry groups, and other stakeholders, to stay informed about industry developments and identify new business opportunities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
• At least 8-10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in IPC or hotel industry or a related field.
• Strong business development skills, with a proven track record of success in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data insights.

BASIC FUNCTION:                 

The Executive Director will serve as a visionary leader of the Marriott - Sorenson Center for Hospitality Leadership. They will work to lead and build programs that will bring industry and academe together to prepare Howard students to meet the critical needs of leadership. Through this work, the Executive Director will act as the liaison between the Office of the Dean and various departments within the School of Business, the Office of the President, strategic initiative staff, corporate partners in hospitality, faculty, students, and the project sponsor (The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation).

The Executive Director is responsible for the Center’s ongoing strategy development and implementation. In this capacity the ED will develop curriculum and co-curricular activities; create engagement opportunities with industry representatives; develop and steward new and diverse relationships within the hospitality industry; and manage to the program’s goals and objectives.

In addition, the Executive Director will track quantifiable data and statistical evidence to qualify the success of the Center for Hospitality Leadership. This will include tracking student success and recommending areas of improvement in service of greater impact. 

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Executive Director will formally plan, assign, direct, and coordinate the work of the Center employees. This position will have a lean team that may grow over time.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:                     

• Lead the next chapter of the Center’s creation.
• Manage and execute the Center’s strategic plan.
• Collaborate with external partners and faculty to design curriculum and co-curricular activities, plan and implement programs, and manage student performance.
• Work closely with the various academic departments, career services, and Office of Student Affairs to help create a cohort criteria for advanced training and instruction of participating students.
• Build on the fundraising and stewardship success, continue to pitch engagement with the Center to new, prospective donors and/or industry partners.
• Steward the numerous industry leaders who have committed time and financial resources to design the program.
• Manage a board of advisors to provide strategic insights about industry trends and translate that into actionable center programming.
• Leverage resources and the success of student outcomes to develop new partnerships and opportunities within hospitality.
• Create sustainable programming, along with an evolving group of advisors, to employ industry practices for innovative out-of-classroom activities.
• Plan events, workshops, and career placement conferences to ensure student recruitment and engagement.
• Evaluate program effectiveness to develop and implement new or improved methods. Devise and implement evaluation methodologies.
• Ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time and funding limitations, or other specifications.
• Develop and schedule a program work plan in accordance with specifications, objectives, and funding.

Key Responsibilities:

• To work alongside the Head of AST in planning, organising, directing and co-ordinating Advisory business plan objectives, and leading execution of Advisory mandates, across SEA, HK, South Korea, China and the Maldives.
• To support the Head of AST in the origination, execution and overall co-ordination of Strategic Transaction mandates across SEA, HK, South Korea, China and the Maldives.

Advisory

• Execute advisory work relating to a variety of mandates, including hotels, motels, student accommodation, hotel operators, tourism organizations, airlines, cruises, golf courses, and branded residential. The advisory work could include, but is not limited to, feasibility, market or asset reviews, entry or expansion strategy, divestment or reinvestment options, value enhancement assessments, and general industry advisory. This will involve partnering with the CBRE Asset Management, IP, Valuation and Consulting teams on certain mandates, and potentially external third-party experts.
• Develop and own rigorous advisory report templates, financial models and data analysis methods which demonstrate a strong level of understanding of the core criteria necessary in to evaluate the subject matter, and a high degree of comfort with data gaps and ambiguities.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to source new clients and mandates and maintain/strengthen relationships with a wide network of key industry stakeholders, utilizing activities such as cold calling, mail-outs, attending networking functions, and proactively seeking to increase personal knowledge of the market (focus on trends / opportunities).

Strategic Transactions

• Support the Head of AST in building out and growing a Strategic Transaction service line. This could include hotel portfolio sales, brand company buy and sell side mandates, merger and acquisition mandates, brand partnership advisory, capital raising mandates, and other hotels and hospitality transactions that require or leverage the team’s industry and capital markets knowledge, experience and networks.
• Origination and execution of Strategic Transaction mandates will require you to leverage your industry, technical and other relevant knowledge and skills to undertake financial and business analyses, package up and articulate ideas, rationales, conclusions and recommendations in the form of Powerpoint presentations, memos, emails, in-person discussions, etc.
• As required support the broader CBRE capital markets teams on hotel transactions as required, under the guidance of the Head of AST.

Branded Residential

• Support the Head of AST in building out and growing a Branded Residential Advisory service line.

Asset Management

• Support the Head of Asset Management, Asia on selected Asset Management assignments, which could include managing certain hotel mandates, as guided by the Head of AST.

Personal Requirements

Finance Director ( Hospitality)

Our client is a leading hospitality brand and would be expanding further with 2 more clubs in Asia in 2024.

Summary

The Finance Director will lead the Group finance team in all finance and accounting activities. They will assist the CEO & Founder with leadership of the wider business, and work cross-functionally with the other leaders in the business to progress the Group towards its wider commercial goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Overall

• Lead all finance functions, across Singapore, Hong Kong and Bali.
• Cross-functional leadership with the management teams in all markets.
• Get involved outside of the Finance Team and maintain connections with other departments within the Group.
• Build relationships with key business partners.
• Work across departments, and with executive leadership, and to drive business goals on a day-to-day basis.
• Assist CEO and Founder with new project development, pitching and execution.

Finance & Accounting

• Manage all aspects of day-to-day Accounting, covering General Ledger, AR (aka ‘Membership Finance’), AP, and all internal and external Reporting.
• Lead creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual Forecasts for the Group, and the reporting of delivery against them.
• Manage teams, to ensure the team’s objectives are met to a high standard.

IT & Systems

· Display and inculcate expertise with business systems, to drive their effective use as a key reporting, control, and analytical tool.

People

Job Requirements

• Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience in success-oriented environment and someone who has a hands on and strategic approach
• Experience working cross-departmentally to drive commercial action, working in small and large firms will be a big plus
• CA / ACCA / CPA / CIMA qualified or equivalent
• Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
