The primary role of this position will be with our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist. This program runs T/W/TH from 3:30-5:30. As a PRN there can be other opportunities to pick up shifts in our Crisis Partial Hospitalization Program, Crisis Access Center, or Inpatient Psych Unit as well, but this position will have the 9 hours per week scheduled.

The Clinical Mental Health Professional will assess the patient's medical history, mental health history, and current presentation to understand the patient's needs from treatment, and then develop a plan of care either individually or with input from the patient, patient family and significant others, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. 

Related responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Diagnoses and treats various mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, modifying care plan(s) to reflect changes in patient status
• Refers patients to other services to improve their well-being. These referrals may include community services, treatment programs, support groups, psychiatrists, or other mental health providers.
• Works with the multi-disciplinary team to develop a discharge plan in order to provide further care, services, and referrals in order to ensure continuity of care.

• Organizes and prioritizes daily work by assessing new, current, and discharging patient needs in area(s) of responsibility.

• Master's Degree in Social Work or related field. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.  

Experience: None

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapist OR eligible to sit for the exam; License must be obtained

within six (6) months of hire. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program.  Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities.  Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed.  Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relations with staff.  Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients.  Some computer skills.

This exciting new post will be the first Band 6 OT role within the IPOCH team, reporting to the IPOCH team leader who holds an Occupational Therapy registration. The post will be based within the IPOCH hub, predominantly working within the community in both Pathway 1 and Pathway 2 to assess and review patients to ensure flow within the service, focusing on the Home First approach. Our Pathway 2 beds are based around Cheshire, and the post holder would support in delivering the rehabilitation to these patients as well as working with the MDT in complex discharge planning. As part of this post, you will be expected to supervise Band 4 and Band 3 members of the IPOCH GNA service who support patients in the community under Pathway 1. Supporting with moving and handling, equipment queries and complex care needs.

Under minimal direction, perform various therapeutic physical therapy treatments according to the direction of a physician.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Interprets physician order, evaluates patient and formulates a treatment plan to reach long and short term goals
• Interprets the patient’s response to treatment and modifies plan to fit the current needs of the patient
• Involved in the discharge planning of patients; writes and instructs patients in a home program
• Documents treatment results and patient’s response to treatment in the medical records
• Depending on amount of clinical experience may supervise and assists students during their clinical rotations
• Maintains and cleans equipment used by the department

Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, techniques, equipment and procedures used in physical therapy.  Knowledge of anatomy and physiology sufficient to evaluate and treat patients.  Knowledge of equipment and the ability to adjust equipment to suite patient’s needs.   Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and excellent communication skills in guiding patients to assume responsibility for their treatment and development.  Knowledge of computers.
