The Sr Principal Engineer – Software is an experienced engineering technical lead on embedded displays. This individual will define the display software’s development principles and become the subject matter expert. This individual will assist with the evaluation and selection of future display hardware. This individual will work with and mentor other embedded software engineers in their team.
YOUR IMPACT:
Responsible for completion of a complex project on time.
Will be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.
Responsible for managing multiple priorities.
Collaborate as needed with other engineering business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on a common project.
Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.
Responsible for the preparation and delivery of complex plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.
Plans and directs the technical aspects of the most highly complex research and development programs.
Synthesizes and analyzes studies which required application of advanced knowledge in a specific field.
May provide project direction and technical counsel to lower-level engineers.
Research, study, and propose the use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products.
Assist with the preparation of technical proposals and presentations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with eight (8) or more years of related experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
Accredited Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
Experience with embedded C/C++, embedded Linux, and embedded RTOS development
Familiarity with JavaScript, JSON, Python, and SQL database
Familiarity with software issue tracking and software repository systems
Familiarity with SDL for graphics development
Familiarity with building embedded Linux environments using Buildroot
Familiarity with automotive CAN and LIN networks as well as CAN FD
Familiarity with QT for graphics development
Familiarity with Yocto for developing embedded Linux environments
Experience with dev ops like Make, CMake, and Conan
Familiarity with the Atlassian toolchain including Jira, bitbucket, and collaborator

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, mathematics, business administration or related field, with six (6) years of progressively responsible IT experience which includes a minimum of four (4) years experience developing application interfaces; web-based and client/server applications; or
an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Relevant IT certifications (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer, Adobe certified Expert for Developers, Google Apps Certified Deployment Specialist, Programing Language Certified Associate, Certified Associate Programmer, or Certified Professional Programmer may be substituted for two (2) years of the education or experience.
