Main Duties and Responsibilities: To provide high quality Physiotherapy and consultation to people within the Community Learning Disability Service. To manage a complex caseload, using evidence based/client principles to assess,,plan, implement and evaluate interventions in clinic and community settings and on home visits. To maintain clinical records To develop skills and knowledge To effectively manage the local waiting list and KPIs To provide specialist Physiotherapy advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to a client's formulation, diagnosis and case management plan. To formulate and implement plans for the formal Physiotherapy treatment and/or management of a client's condition and risk based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems. To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention. To ensure that clients are consulted and involved in decision about their care. To provide assessment and treatment to people with a learning disability and complex health needs, identifying the role of physiotherapy within the MDT. To arrange safe discharge on completion of intervention. To work with the MDT to complete holistic assessments as part of the MDT approach, using generic clinical skills as necessary. To promote integration of people with learning disabilities into community activities and develop partnership working with leisure facilities, hydrotherapy pools and gym establishments. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with people with learning disabilities and their carers. To communicate and work with other agencies and community teams where necessary. To provide support and mentoring for junior members of staff within the multi-disciplinary team. To manage a case load within the CSP Care Standards. To promote and participate in research as necessary. To work with the team manager and Professional Lead to ensure recruitment and retention of staff is effective and timely. To undertake complex risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on Physiotherapy aspects of risk assessment and risk management. To provide leadership locally for the Physiotherapists within the Essex Learning Disability Service. To determine appropriate clinical, administrative and managerial workloads for Physiotherapists in the team. To provide an effective supervision framework for Physiotherapy staff, and provide regular supervision to allocated Physiotherapy staff as per Trust policy. To undertake Annual Performance Appraisals with all Physiotherapists in the team locally. To recruit and appoint staff in conjunction with relevant Team Leaders and Professional Leads and in accordance with the required operation of the Service. To identify training and development needs of individual staff. To co-ordinate Physiotherapy Student Practice Placements and support Practice Placement Educators within the locality. To initiate, plan and implement the induction, training and educating of students and staff within the local service, as appropriate. To be responsible for the supervision and written assessments of Physiotherapy Students on Practice Placement. Cannington Physiotherapy is a large and well-established private practice within walking distance to the popular Westfield Carousel.  Our clinic has been operating in the area for more than 30 years. We focus on maintaining high standards of patient care for overall client satisfaction. We are a friendly and committed team of twelve physios with many years of experience between us. Whilst professional, we are also very social and promote a well-balanced lifestyle.   

An opportunity exists for a new physiotherapist to join our team. This position is mainly targeted for those with at least 12 months experience; however new graduates are more than welcome to apply. We have the ability to tailor the role specific to the candidate’s strengths and preferences as we have a substantial client base and offer a diverse range of services. Part or full time hours can be negotiated. 

You will be provided with consistent peer support from the senior physiotherapists working around you, as well as monthly internal and external education opportunities. Cannington Physiotherapy is a member of the Active Physiotherapy Group and through this group we arrange monthly education sessions, often with high profile surgeons, sports doctors and specialist physiotherapists.  Dependent on your level of experience and educational needs, we can provide appropriate clinical support and guidance to help you excel in all areas of private practice. 

At Cannington Physiotherapy we primarily see private clients, many who have been visiting our practice for many years. In addition to this, we run regular Pilates, physio exercise sessions, gym-based rehab programs and hydrotherapy. We also take on workers compensation and motor vehicle clients and conduct some pre-employment assessments. Our clinic also has a long history working with state level sporting teams in the area, as well as several local sports clubs.

The successful candidate will receive permanent employment with the opportunity to earn commission on top of a very competitive base salary (plus superannuation).

Main Duties:

• To perform clinical assessments, design and implement safe, progressive individual exercise treatment schedules, with daily recording of prescribed treatment plans and auditing of selected areas, in accordance with the ERI Standards of Proficiency to Practice.
• To conduct safe and effective group-based exercise therapy sessions (up to a max of 15 patients) to restore optimal function to injured or ill service personnel. Research Physiotherapist Under the direction of the orthopaedic research coordinator, to be responsible for the day-to-day running of specified clinical trials involving orthopaedic patients undergoing joint replacement surgery. This will include the recruitment, assessment and ongoing follow-up of patients for specific trials. Research Nurse To participate in the creation and maintenance of a high-quality clinical research environment. To initiate and manage nursing activities related to academic studies and clinical trials, from initiation to termination, according to ICH good clinical practice guidelines. This post will NOT support the activities listed in the AcoRD guidance as NHS treatment costs. Provide specialist information and advice to study participants in relation to the STEPS II Project. Work autonomously and provide information and leadership in relation to the research being in undertaken Responsibility for Information Resources Responsible for all paper based and computerised trial data entry (compiled by the post holder and/or other members of the research team) for use within the Trust and by external partners Responsible for ensuring that all trial data is stored in accordance with the data protection act (1998) Ensure the accuracy, completeness, legibility and timeliness of data recorded in all study related reports Keep clear, concise records (in terms of patient documentation and data collection) that are accurate, complete, legible and timely, in accordance with the regulatory requirements and the protocol requirements. This will include sending data in the required format to study organisers in accordance with the data protection act (1998) and ensuring that data collected can be verified at source and is kept in a way that complies with legislation. Occasional exposure to unpleasant conditions (e.g. body fluids, odours, lice) Some duties may be necessary after normal working hours therefore some flexibility required in work schedule Physical Effort The post holder will include seeing patients in all areas of the hospital. As such some walking is required. Light lifting duties (e.g. box files) would also be required. Occasional requirement to manoeuvre patients and equipment for treatment. Use relevant knowledge to perform all research procedures according to protocols and extend this experience to support others in the research team and other health care professionals where appropriate. Be accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation and ongoing care of research participants, whilst maximising compliance. Assist in maintenance of a investigator site file for the project, and ensure responsibility for completion and/or maintenance of standards of documentation in accordance with the legislation. Be confident in explaining the studies to participants, answering their questions and obtaining informed consent according to the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and in a sensitive and unbiased manner. Ensure that patients are advised and understand fully all the details of the study and extend this information to both family members and treating clinicians as appropriate dependant on the study Conduct all research trial procedures, assessments and data collection in strict compliance with the trial specific protocols and interpret these results to assess care needs. Be responsible for obtaining relevant study information including randomisation status and treatment allocation where relevant and collection and reporting of participant data Maintain patient safety by reporting research adverse events in a timely manner. Implement the principles of GCP for clinical trials. Contribute to developing and maintaining research Standard Operating Procedures and communicating any changes to those affected by them (e.g. the research team and supporting departments). Promotion of clinical trials and studies throughout the Trust Liaise and discuss trials with clinicians before, during and after the clinical trial. Utilise study specific safety reporting to highlight these in the context of clinical trials and participate in investigating these as required. Contribute to the development of posters and research papers for meetings, conferences and publication. Maintain awareness of current advances in medical treatments, research and nursing practice and use this specialised knowledge to develop and maintain a high standard of care for patients. Ascertain knowledge and skills relevant to the delivery of the clinical trials being undertaken. Training will be provided as needed. Participate in formal and informal teaching programmes, study days and educational programmes within the CRN/CCG/local trusts/university as appropriate. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of EU Directives and principles of GCP. Identify personal training requirements and initiate appropriate training. Undertake both professional training to meet CPD requirements guided through a competency framework, and study specific training in order to operationalise studies effectively. There may be a need to gain further knowledge in specific conditions to ensure safe informed clinical delivery of studies. Act in accordance with the appropriate professional Code of Practice Maintain ones own professional development and participate in an annual appraisal and NMC revalidation processess including an individual personal development review. Management Self-manage all work areas and workload, seeking managerial supervision if required. Maintain own time schedule and ensure that all timelines are adhered to. Be aware of all Trust and local procedures and policies and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure these are observed. Participate in the development of Trust and local procedures and policies as required. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, and implement and promote a safe working environment. Be responsible for monitoring trial consumables and ensuring adequate levels of equipment and documentation across sites in liaison with the local trial manager.

Requirements of the Lead Learning Disability Physiotherapist:

• Qualified physiotherapist, i.e., Degree or equivalent within Physiotherapy
• Registered with the HCPC as a physiotherapist to work in the UK
• NHS experience would be advantageous but not essential
• An experienced LD Specialist Physiotherapist, to lead a team of Physiotherapist, and Physiotherapy assistants

Main Duties and Responsibilities: To provide high quality Physiotherapy and consultation to people within the Community Learning Disability Service. To manage a complex caseload, using evidence based/client principles to assess,,plan, implement and evaluate interventions in clinic and community settings and on home visits.
