The IT department is a small but highly efficient team who work together, and where necessary, identify and fill skills/resources gaps to achieve results. You will be critical to the successful delivery digital projects, assisting with all aspects to drive a project from inception to the point it goes live.
Purpose of the role
Responsible for developing and supporting solutions delivered using C# and the low code platform, Appian. You will work closely with colleagues, both internally and externally, to deliver solutions using our implementation of the agile delivery methodology. While the primary focus of this role will be the continued improvement of our core systems, there will be opportunities for you to use your technical expertise to enhance other areas of our organisation.
What you will do
Using your development skills, design and develop complex application services, selecting necessary architectures, standards, platforms, and technologies to meet project requirements and user needs.
Responsible for ensuring solutions align to our architectural and development principles (Test, DevOps, Security, Service Management).
Develop and implement custom solutions using your skills in C#, Node.js and Appian and Umbraco to meet our requirements to deliver our organisational strategy.
Work closely with business analysts & product owners to deliver application changes requested by business functions. Using your expert knowledge to influence effective decision making.
Develop and implement technical and creative solutions to organisational requirements using latest technologies. Keeping abreast of new technologies, recommend changes for continuous improvement and share knowledge to upskill and coach the team.
Support the IT development and technical architect in building, architecting, designing, and implementing cost effective and efficient digital solutions.
Define and implement infrastructure strategies to meet project goals and deliver our organisational strategy.
Support the IT development and technical architect and third-party supplier to define our enterprise and solutions architecture. Deputising for the IT development and technical architect when needed.
Responsible for ensuring project activities relating to our commitment to ensure our digital services are compliant with Government Digital Services service standards.
Your skills, knowledge and experience
Experience of working with C#, ASP.NET MVC, Node.js and .NET Core.
Experience of working with Scrum/Agile methodologies.
Expert knowledge and experience of CI/CD processes.
Experience of working with CI/CD software particularly Jenkins, Octopus, Sonar.
Experience of working with version control systems like GIT, SVN and bitbucket.
Experience of working with Azure cloud services.
Experience of maintaining code quality with a high level of automated test coverage.
Experience of writing complex store procedures and optimizing queries in SQL & MYSQL.
Experience of working with web-related technologies (HTML5, XML, CSS, Java Script, jQuery, JSON, Ajax etc.)
Experience of working with Umbraco or other CMS
Experience of working with Appian or other low code development tool (desirable)

Working pattern: full-time. We offer flexible working subject to business need.
Salary: £48,691 per year, rising to £50,808 per year after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.
