Skilled & experienced Van Mechanic is required for full time permanent vacancy.

For the Van Mechanic role you will need to have prior Van Mechanic experience working within a dealership or fleet maintenance environment.

Responsibilities of a Van Mechanic
·Routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards.
·Preparation and presentation of vehicles and trailers for MOT inspection.
·Diagnosing of vehicles diagnostic equipment.
·Good housekeeping and H&S requirements.
·Ensure all paperwork is completed.

We are looking for a mot tester/ mechanic. You will be required to workfrom 8am til 5pm and every other saturday 8-1pm. The right candidate will mainly be doing mots.You need to be punctual and reliable and have your own tools. Good rate of pay for the right candidate.

DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation.

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement techniques for use of specific equipment.
• Make modifications and test and calibrate in accordance with instructions and procedures which are often vague and incomplete.
• Repair of electronic and industrial systems and equipment.
• Use a variety of technical electronic data contained in manufacturer specifications, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
• Performance of preventative and corrective maintenance to keep electronic equipment and systems in reliable operation.
• Make independent judgments in determining the work sequence, selecting and using trade tools, and testing and measuring instruments.
• Maintain moderate to advances working knowledge of a wide range of electronics principles and practices and will be required to participate in continuing education in order to stay abreast of changing technology concerning the equipment in service for SLVHCS, upcoming procurements and ongoing advances.
• Thorough knowledge of logic circuits, electronic amplification and control circuits, and of complex electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.

Work Schedule: Sunday - Saturday Rotating Shifts, 12:00am - 8:00am or 8:00am - 4:00pm or 4:00pm - 12:00am, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Physical Requirements: Required to push, walk, crawl, bend, lift, and climb to extreme heights while working on, in, and under buildings for sustained periods. Position is often required to lift, pull, and carry heavy pieces of equipment and materials (excess of 40 lbs.) without the assistance of help. Uses various power and hand tools. A great deal of bending, kneeling, standing, climbing, and walking is a significant factor. Position is required to climb ladders and do overhead work. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require use of magnifying lenses, eye loops and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.

Candidate Requirements

Must be good time keeper, flexible, reliable and good all-round mechanic capable of clutches, timing belts, timing chains, diagnostics, fault finding etc. Must be willing to undertake mechanical work when MOTs not available

Full driving licence required
Own tools

Working hours: Monday - Friday 08.30 - 07.00. Saturday 08.30 -13.00. (Rotation system in place).
