Emergency Care Assistant

We are looking for emergency care assistants in the Southampton and Portsmouth area.
Your New Role
The role will give you exposure to a variety of service environments that will contribute to your professional and clinical development. You will work alongside our registered healthcare professionals providing crucial support. You will be required to carry out first aid and minor treatments, through to assisting with urgent and emergency care and treat patients within a defined scope of practice.
Part of your role will see you responding to emergency and non-emergency situations whilst delivering high quality, professional and compassionate care. You may be required to undertake routine Patient Transport Services, Urgent Care GP Admissions, Inter-facility transfers or respond to emergency 999 calls as part of a Double Emergency Care Assistant or Paramedic crew. You will display the organisation's values and professionalism in all engagements.
Operational Delivery -
- Use your advanced driving skills to respond to medical emergencies
- Safely transfer patients to and from ambulances, using specialist equipment and manual handling
- skills
- Work alongside other clinicians responding to a range of ambulance activities
- Complete thorough handover reports and record all patient treatment information
- Carry out maintenance and equipment checks of ambulances to ensure they are safe for
operational use
Clinical Support -
- As a clinician, you will be expected to deliver high quality patient care across a range of operational activity.
- Operate within the scope of practice and ensure high quality, appropriate patient contact and documentation.
- Treat patients with respect and dignity and maintain confidentiality in relation to personal data,ensuring it is processed lawfully.
- Assist with the assessment, monitoring and treatment of patients
- Deliver first aid and minor treatment
- Complete handover reports and record all patient information
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this role, you will be required to have -
- A minimum of one of the following
-Qualsafe FREC 4 Certification
-NHS Trust ECA Qualifiaction with the commitment to undertake FREC4
- A full UK license with a maximum of 3 penalty points and no disqualifications within the last 5 years
- An emergency driving Certificate
You will have current experience working in the NHS frontline, evidence of professional development and excellent knowledge of the clinical guidelines and codes of conduct required for the role.
You will be physically fit and be able to undertake the physical aspects of the role, demonstrate interpersonal communication and social skills and ability to prioritise workload and act under pressure.
This role requires you to be flexible with hours of work, be able to support a 24 hour shift pattern, be committed to completing an enhanced DBS clearance and a commitment to the completion of the training days provided.
