The Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or tenured Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Writing, with a strong background in applied linguistics and/or rhetoric and professional communication. We seek a faculty member who specializes in the development and/or use of writing-, communication- and language-related artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The ideal applicant will have an established or emerging research agenda focusing on AI with expertise relevant to natural language processing, generative AI, or a related area. We are especially interested in scholars who are applying AI in innovative ways for the teaching and assessment of writing, communication, and/or language learning.

At the undergraduate level, the faculty member will teach basic courses in English, Linguistics, Technical Communication, and/or Composition (according to specialty), and contribute to emerging course offerings integrating AI-assisted technologies. Responsibilities

• Report to Management Team and perform full spectrum of secretarial and administrative duties.
• Act as the point of contact between internal/external stakeholders, clients and vendors, to manage Management Team’s calendar, including set up and schedule Management Team’s appointments/ events and meetings.
• Attend meeting and take minutes of meetings at all times.
• Be pro-active to remind Management of events on the calendar and take initiative to ensure that pre-preparation of the documents, materials, logistics and facilities are ready for upcoming appointments/ events and meetings.
• Update Management Team of any telephone call queries, incoming faxes and mails.
• Handle any travel arrangements (air ticket booking/ VISA application/ accommodation reservation/ travel itineraries) and prepare for expenses/claims reimbursement.
• Ensure all documents are properly documented and filed.
• Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Involve in planning and execution of events and projects.
• Support admin department on the maintenance of office facilities and
• Undertake any other ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in similar functions will be preferred.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office and able to manage IT equipment (e.g. Video Conferencing System).
• Able to multi task and priorities tasks effectively.
• Self-driven and high level of initiative.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to interact with people at all levels.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and demands.
