New Product Manufacturing Engineers (commonly known as NPMEs) are an essential component of Applied Materials’ new product development and are critical to their preparation and introduction into volume manufacturing to fulfill our customer’s insatiable appetite for cutting edge technology.  The NPME is a strategic function within Worldwide Operations that works closely with Design Engineering, Product Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Customer Support to transform new designs into marketable and manufacturable products that seamlessly merge with existing operational strategies.

NPME Intern Responsibilities

• Participate in the DfX review and feedback of new designs to identify improvement opportunities (i.e. cost, sourcing, producibility, manufacturability, configurability, cycle time, logistics, start-up, maintenance, etc.)
• Analyze CAD models for systems and assemblies to develop initial assembly build sequences

• Audit with molding and pouring operations to verify process is being followed and acquire useful data

• Perform spectrometric testing of iron samples, micrography of iron chills, involvement in sand testing and iron tensile testing, and data analysis of test results

Production Engineering​ (PE) Intern

As part of the Production team in Singapore, the intern will be able to learn the different manufacturing process, operational systems and activities that support pharmaceutical manufacturing. He/she will be expose to the various process, systems and activities associated with cGMP manufacturing operations within IPT.

The PE intern key responsibilities are as follows:

• Assist in the management of cGMP documentation
• Assist in conducting daily tier meetings between operators, engineers and managers
• Collect and analyze operational data to drive productivity
• Work on continuous improvement activities that help to improve the current operation processes and systems
• Actively participate in group meeting discussions and continuous improvement. Collaborate with colleagues whenever possible to achieve both operational and project goals.

 

Job Requirements:

• Current pursuing a Diploma in a technical field, preferably in a science or engineering.
• Demonstrated capability in application of sound engineering and scientific principles, project management skills and structured / analytical problem-solving techniques
• An excellent team player who is able to readily take on responsibilities and work independently
• Strong interest in working in an engineering and operational environment
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills

Job Description

The Product Engineer Interns will work within our Manufacturing Operations in support of all aspects of product engineering including, but not limited to:
• continuous improvement
• development of Standard Work packages
• lean cell conversion and statistical process control implementation
• manufacturing cell design
• new product development
 
Responsibilities/daily duties:
• Assist in solving manufacturing problems, investigating process failures, and implementing corrective actions
• Assist in the Implementation of Lean methodologies including standard work, point of use tooling, material presentation, and process improvements.
• Interface with production personnel including operators, quality inspectors, and shop floor supervisors.
 
Requirements:
• Candidate pursuing an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline
• Strong Microsoft Office Skills
• Experience with CAD and hands-on experience using manufacturing tools preferred

Role Description:

Applied Materials’ Manufacturing Engineering Department is searching for an intern to join our Austin team in summer 2024! Our Engineering group supports the build and test of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Our group continually leads process improvement and new product introduction projects. The position will entail the following:

• Work closely with build and test technicians to identify process improvement opportunities

• Do time studies on the build and test lines

• Lead small manufacturing process improvement projects

• Develop and update operation method sequences (OMSs)

• Support manufacturing engineering with part defect root cause analysis and processing

Requirements

• Student must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field

• Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale 

• Mush have troubleshooting and hands-on skills

• Must be a quick learner and able to learn new skills without formal training

• Engineering experience in a development or manufacturing environment preferred

Compensation
