Primary Labor Relations and HR point of contact for Magellan Federal. Advises and provides strategic labor relations counsel to leadership team members supporting represented employees. Support includes, but is not limited to, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiation support, interpretation and administration; positive employee relations; staffing and workforce planning; and maintaining a positive culture in a unionized environment. Interfaces with union representatives to build and maintain positive and effective union-company relations​.

Prepare high quality People reports for the People Senior Leadership Team, Chief Officer Team and other Senior Leaders which demonstrate performance against agreed performance targets and which highlight risks and areas for improvement.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement of systems, processes and service standards. Undertake regular research, compliance audits, case reviews and pulse checks to identify areas for improvement and develop associated action plans.
Undertake any other People work as directed, including working at different locations in order to provide business continuity and to enable the Employee Relations team as a whole to fulfil force-wide needs.

Qualifications:

Qualified to level 7 CIPD.
Chartered member of CIPD (MCIPD) desirable.



Experience:

Significant proven experience in the support and management of complex ER matters.
Previous experience of advising on complex people management cases.
Experience of policy design and development.
Proven experience of consulting and negotiating with Trade Unions and Staff Associations.
Previous experience of supporting Organisational Change.
Previous experience of successfully leading a team desirable.
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.



Skills & Abilities:

Proven ability to develop, interpret and provide advice to managers and senior leaders on a diverse range of HR policies, processes, Employment Law and Terms and Conditions.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Employee Relations Specialist - University Human Resources - Georgetown University

The Employee Relations Specialist conducts incident and disciplinary investigations and departmental administrative reviews. They review and assess witness reports, incident reports, statements, and other workplace reports and findings submitted by departments, managers or staff to determine if policy violations have occurred; and issue reports with official findings and proposed solutions to resolve matters of concern in support of the entire University.

They maintain an investigation case management database and conducts trainings related to employee relations, performance management, and professional conduct; and support the Human Resources team on complex employee relations matters identified by the University Director for Employee Relations and Engagement; and periodically review and assess employee relations policies and procedures, and revise as necessary.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Senior Director of Employee & Labor Relations, the Employee Relations Specialist is a member of the Human Resources Department, which also includes Classification & Compensation, Client Services, Faculty & Staff Assistance Program, Hoya Kids Learning Center, Recruitment and Employment Services, Learning & Development, and Help Center.

They work closely with HR’s Client Services, as well as with the University’s Office of Institutional Diversity Equity and Affirmative Action (IDEAA), Office of General Counsel, Office of Compliance and Ethics, and other University staff on a variety of matters concerning workplace behavior and performance management issues and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in appropriate specialization
• 3 to 6 years of relevant HR or relevant and applicable work experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in the application of HR policies and practices
• Knowledge of labor relations law and practice, state and federal wage, hour laws, and FLSA
• Strong investigatory skills
• Attention to accuracy and detail
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to interface and effectively communicate with various levels of management.
• Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
• Ability to relate to a culturally diverse university community; and to work well under stressful conditions
