6 North is a 38 bed Cardiovascular unit that specializes in caring for adult patients with Heart Failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, LVAD readmits, pulmonary hypertension and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring. Care is provided 24 hours per day 7 days a week.

Scope of work
The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. About this unit
7 South is a 22 bed Progressive Neuroscience unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of stroke and adult epilepsy patients. As an accredited comprehensive stroke center, we have the ability to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. Additionally, our epilepsy program performs a range of EEG monitoring from routine up to surgical implantation. Although this is a specialized unit, there is still a lot to learn due to the variety of conditions patients can have in addition to their stroke. Teamwork on this unit is known to be exceptional. Members of 7 South team assist each other in any way they can giving this unit a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. 7 South welcomes new graduates and experienced healthcare professionals alike and gives them the chance to continue to learn and grow their skills no matter their experience.

About the unit
2 South is a 41-bed Orthopedic/Progressive unit at Butterworth Hospital. 2 South cares for medical patients as well as some surgical patients. As a team member on 2 South, you will see a wide variety of patients. Some of those diagnoses include Orthopedic Trauma, Ortho Oncology, Hip & Spine Fractures, Spine Surgery, where the other population is Progressive Care and Med/Surg overflow. These diagnoses can be anything from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Pneumonia, Sepsis, Congestive Heart Failure, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Drips, Bi pap as well as Post Op heart ablation and pacemaker replacement patients. Teamwork is what keeps 2 South thriving. They rely on each other to get through shifts and keep their staff united. The Corewell Health Butterworth OR department is a level 1 trauma center. The department consists of twenty-one (21) operating rooms that operate 24/7 including supporting other surgical services departments related to IMRI and pediatric areas. The surgical team covers multiple specialties with a focus on trauma, orthopedic trauma, acute care surgery and neurological trauma. Our interdisciplinary team of anesthesia providers, physicians, nurses, surgical technicians, and support technicians offer a high level of expertise and patient care. We also support a high level of technology including the DaVinci, Rosa, and Stealth robotic equipment. The environment offers a strong team atmosphere with comprehensive technology for safe and efficient patient care.

Scope of work
Assists in the preparation, delivery, and clean-up of patient care during the intra-operative phase. Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit. Obtains and organizes necessary equipment, sterile supplies, and instruments for each surgical case. Assembles surgical supplies for rooms and case tables. Opens sterile supplies for surgical procedures. Cleans equipment (including decontamination and sterilization of instruments), work areas and reusable supplies and returns unneeded equipment to appropriate department. Also follows-up on equipment needing repairs.

About the Unit
6 and 8 Center at Butterworth Hospital are secure units with 20 private beds on each that specialize in Women and Infant Services, specifically postpartum care of Mother Baby couplets, after labor and delivery. The average length of postpartum patient stay here is 2-3 days. The excellent care provided by the 110 members of our Nursing and Support Team within Postpartum, provides team members and patients with memories that last a lifetime. We're here to guide parents through this transitional period, offering assistance, education, and support every step of the way. We even have Lactation Peer Counselors and Consultants available during your inpatient stay and a lactation warmline for continued assistance.

Scope of work
The Lactation Peer Counselor is a support role, (which is different from the Lactation Peer Consultant (RN) they work closely with).
Handles incoming and outgoing communications to breastfeeding mothers. Provides information, counsels, and supports breastfeeding mothers. Uses evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of teaching. Responsible for maintaining records regarding educational programs and equipment rentals.
Provide information to prenatal women interested in breastfeeding, the benefits, reasons to breast feed, latching on, getting started in the hospital, supply and demand, preventing problems, growth spurts, and to discourage bottles and pacifiers in the hospital.
Provide information and support to postpartum mothers to encourage the continuance of successful breastfeeding and to respond to concerns or problems and/or on the expression and storage of breast milk, and pumping.
Accept and coordinate phones calls related to breastfeeding issues. Organize accurate records of all contacts and follow-up phone calls.
Teaches how breast pump works, handles question by telephone on how to work equipment, and follows up with mothers to see how they are functioning 24/48 hours after discharge. Refer breastfeeding problems to Lactation Consultants if immediate attention is required or if the problem is beyond his/her level of knowledge and/or skills.
