Our client operates a manufacturing plant in producing and supply of premium range of automotive engine oils and lubricants/grease for automotive and industrial sectors. Their production plant, located in Shah Alam is looking for a seasoned and experienced Chemist to be part of their technical and production team.
The job role
This position entails the provision of high-level expertise in analyzing, testing and formulation of existing/new products and requirements.
Responsibilities will include serving as day-to-day leader for a few small projects, serving as the primary liaison with internal and external customers on technical questions.
Role & functions
-Conduct routine physical and chemical testing, e.g. viscosity of oils, grease penetration, soap alkaline, density, and other physical chemistry testing that are needed to qualify products for distribution to customer users.
-Provide technical support, product information and applications in the lube formulation and specifications.
-Organize and prepare Certificate of Analysis for all dispatched products.
-Involved in planning, organizing and implementing internal/external quality requirements to ensure manufactured products meet customer expectations.
-Review existing quality process to identify and devise solutions for improvement or upgrade of products.
-Serve as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
-Act as expert in analyzing, testing and developing new or updated formulae that require comprehensive understanding of chemistry, product lines and materials; lead small project teams and determine quality standards.
-Develop and adjust the product formulae and coding, read and interpret patents and determine how to improve or utilize technology to develop product lines.
-Implementation of ISO 9001 and process trouble shooting and improvement.
-Provide technical assistance to the product development, quality control, manufacturing process and other operations.
-Minimum a bachelor degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or chemistry related degree.
-Practical experience in organic and analytical/physical chemistry lab in manufacturing environment within lubricating oil industry would be ideal.
-Possess advance knowledge in formulation, product development, industrial standards and regulations.
-Hands on experience in analytical instruments, testing techniques and equipment would be an advantage.
-Strong analytical skills and problem solving capability.
-Strong mathematical, statistical analysis and Spread sheet (MS Excel) skills.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
