The number of countries supported by FRA Operations Team that delivers financial reporting and accounting services, financial compliance and process expertise in the areas of Record to Report, Request to Pay, Travel and Expense and Treasury Cash Management. As part of the Novartis FRA Operations team, this is a new role waiting for you to make change happen. Your Responsibilities: The R2R Senior Specialist GL & Reporting manages the GL Accounting and Reporting, enabling the execution of quality services. This role supports having systems, documentation, compliance and reporting in place and supports continuous improvement projects to provide highly effective and efficient end-to-end processes to the Novartis divisions. The Senior Specialist proactively drive knowledge sharing and learning discussions and provides guidance to Specialists in order to build capabilities and strengthen the Inventory Team. He or She will also contribute to special projects related to accounting and reporting in support of NGSC Finance Team as assigned.
- Operational oversight to provide services at expected levels with a clear customer focus, including handling the exceptions. Provides functional guidance to the team members. Interacts proactively within FSC and with Divisions to ensure accurate accounting, and financial reporting. Resolve all escalated issues and disputes.
- Collaborates with key external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities / auditors
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for related policies and processes
- Actively initiate and participate in system improvements to sustain a highly effective and efficient process, and realize cost reduction opportunities including areas to standardize processes to optimize investments made in global ERP/SAP systems and financial services
- Support the measurement and delivery of service levels in line with defined SLA / KPI targets
- Maintenance of General Ledger master data, review manual journal entries, manage balance sheet account reconciliations process of all balance sheet accounts, ensure proper accounting of financial transactions, accounting specific questions are well addressed and solved (with escalations to Technical Accounting if required), actively review accounts, perform variance analysis and manage period-end closing and reporting in accordance with local laws and Novartis required standards
- Act as super user for SAP and accounting (accruals, depreciation, period lock), ensure that figures reported are correct and ensure close collaboration with key stakeholders, support BPA and FSC in technical and appliance questions, ensure proper master data maintenance, supervise for master data maintenance and proactively challenge the Status Quo, making fact based recommendations while working closely with ERP Support
- Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent.
- Professional certification will be an added advantages.
- Candidates must have at least 6 - 8 years of financial experience and strong in accounting standard
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national, matrix organization. Multiple country experience is preferable.
- SAP knowledge is preferred
- Experience of managing projects driving performance (e.g. ERP implementation).
- Proficient in Mandarin Language and English as this role will require constant communication and dealings with our business partners and counterparts in the region
