Overview / Responsibilties

Wood has unique world-class engineering capability in the fields of Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) and we are currently seeking an Analyst to join our team in the Kuala Lumpur office.

We demonstrate technical excellence in resolving the causes and effects of vibration in static equipment, structures and machinery providing engineering solutions and services improving the integrity and performance of our clients’ facilities. This is a consulting role combining elements of business development and key account management and associated office based analysis.

At this time this role is open to Malaysian nationals or those with valid work rights or Visa in place for Malaysia.

Accountabilities of the role will include:
  • Perform design studies (analysis) for new or modified machinery packages, piping systems, reciprocating compressors and pumping systems
  • Perform design studies for platform dynamics, foundation design, skid design, flow induced vibration studies, centrifugal compressor surge control and other design requirements
  • Assist with investigations and provide high quality technical input for relevant plant failures and trouble-shooting projects
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong relationships with clients to resolve their technical vibration and dynamics problems and foster ongoing relationships to ensure future work
  • Provide application advice to the client – developing expertise in this area you will assist with project management and client training presentations
  • Support project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and project control
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to quickly interpret key client evidence
  • Prepare written reports of investigation findings and recommend methods for rectification
  • Develop systems and processes for continuous improvement
Skills / Qualifications
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (Masters or higher degree)
  • Strong skill-set and proven experience in computational analysis (FEA)
  • 3 to 5 years of recent relevant engineering industry experience ideally in a consultancy organization. Applicants who have recently completed a PhD related to dynamic analysis simulation are also encouraged to apply.
  • Desirable experience includes:
  • dynamic stress and fatigue analysis,
  • acoustic and flow induced studies,
  • FEA, pipe stress analysis,
  • pulsation analysis / control, strain gauging, structural dynamics / trouble-shooting
  • Strong interest in vibration, performance, reliability, and machinery design
  • Competence in English literacy and report writing skills is critical
  • Familiar with use of commercial software such as ANSYS, FEMAP, CAESAR II, AutoCad, Solidworks and able to quickly learn modelling on the company’s proprietary modelling software
  • Experience with relevant piping codes and/or piping code analysis software
  • Provide engineering solutions within a customer focused and service oriented framework
  • Ability to work within project budget, schedule and resource constraints
