Job Purpose

Responsible for driving corporate initiatives and processes through effective communication with stakeholders both inside and outside the company. Can be brand and above brand.

Upkeep the corporate communication Standard of Procedures and governance at the highest level of ethics.

Provide clear consistent messaging on Roche's strategic mission, vision and progress toward stated goals.

Required to collaborate with both internal and external cross-functional team members, as well as with external stakeholders.

All Roche employees are expected to practice high standards of compliance with both external and internal policies and regulations as well as participate and be involved in SHE initiatives within the Company.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Corporation Communications:

Ensure consistency in key messages and development towards the vision established in the affiliate.

Lead and implement communication strategies of brands, above brands, corporate culture and identity and, people towards external.

Assist GM and Senior Leadership Team, the Malaysia Network Enabling Team (MYNET).

Build a corporate identity to external.

To address corporate and brand communications with external stakeholders.

Engagement of employees through open and transparent communications platforms

Media Relations and Digital Solutions (External):

Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts and drive positive media coverage on the company through proactive media relations programs such as media advisories, media pitches, interview opportunities.

Lead and drive media strategy to build/support/establish brands and corporate objectives.

Track and monitor the efficiency of media relations work with media analysts

Issues and Crisis Management:

A core member of the Business Continuity Management team.

Provide consultation and input to business team during communication planning processes to avoid possible issues and crisis.

Work in collaboration with Communication Manager to lead in building internal/external communications content whenever issues emerge, so as to avoid the issues developing into crisis.

Undertake a leading role in issues, conflict and crisis management, and establish a corresponding network in order to manage internal and external communications flow to minimize negative impact and seek positive opportunities.

Liaise with business colleagues on the above items.

Provide related internal key stakeholders (affiliate, NEO, Global) heads-up whenever there is an issues evolving locally or worldwide.

Corporate Reputation:

Ensure relevant facing leadership team members are media trained, and all responses are aligned with guidelines, corporate values, and society expectations.

Make sure brand communication content is aligned with guidelines, corporate values, and society expectations.

Drive positioning around the company business priorities, including corporate social responsibility and sustainability programs as needed (e.g. Roche Children’s Walk, Swiss Open Week, etc).

Work in collaboration with Communication Manager to maintain and standardize Roche intranet and Roche Corporate website.

Brand Communications:

Work closely with Ecosystems stakeholders for communication planning, and lead the execution plan to meet planned objectives.

Manage agencies, who work as partners with Roche team for any product communication plan.

Liaise with affiliate leadership to streamline brand communications and keep country leadership posted of key development and events.

Liaise with internal communication team to update employees of key activities and developments of products using articles, press releases, speeches and supporting collateral, media events and roundtables.

Planning and budgeting:

Ensure accurate budgeting of agency and other costs for PR/organization communication activities as well as responsibility for managing functional budget.

Monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.

Responsible for the achievement of PR/organization communications goals and objectives.

Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives

Others

Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time as required by business.

Competencies

Job Specific Competencies:

Outstanding oral/written language skills in the local business language as well as English.

Outstanding judgment with a balance of confidence, maturity, refinement and high energy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with senior leaders and matrixed functions and departments.

Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills

Ability to select, manage and direct PR agencies and other vendors in terms of strategy development, quality, cost and deliverables.

Good relationship skills with local media.

Ability to lead without authority.

Ability to manage a number of programs/projects simultaneously, and to be hands-on as well as strategic.

Team player who can lead by example, with high accountability for his/her actions.

Unquestioned commitment to a highly-ethical organization.

Independent & self-motivated

Expertise

Possess at least 5 years of related communications experience in positions of responsibility in major corporations preferably with an international scope.

Experience in the healthcare industry desired.

Education / Qualifications:

Possess Bachelor Degree from a reputable University (local/overseas) majoring in Marketing Communication, Public Relations, Economics, Pharmaceutical, Public Policy
