Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership that aligns with faculty and university strategic plans by managing, administering and fostering excellence in teaching, research and professional activities
  • Responsible for staff leadership and management, including recruitment and selection, performance management and staff development ensuring equitable management of staff workload i.e. teaching, research and administration
  • Foster research excellence through obtaining competitive research grants, leading significant research projects and working with other staff to develop research links
  • Actively involved in the school’s curriculum planning and development processes, academic committees, and relevant examination processes in addition to monitoring the quality of individual teaching in the relevant discipline
  • Work collaboratively with key staff across the relevant faculties/schools and departments on all operational matters affecting the department
  • Maintain and broaden collaborative partnerships with professional bodies and industry both nationally and internationally, making a significant contribution to the profession
  • Exercise strong budget management for the department, detailing targeted student numbers and to work towards ensuring such targets are met

Requirements:

  • Candidates with Doctorate degree in Hospitality and Tourism preferred
  • Candidates with Master’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism will be considered
  • At least 7 to 10 years of working experience in the education sector with at least 4 years in a leadership role
  • Candidates must have broad-based experience in Hospitality and/or Tourism industry (i.e. Food and Beverages, Travel and Tourism, Event Management, etc.)
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Candidates with experience in Australian, U.K. and/or U.S. education will have an added advantage
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
