Business Analyst

The incumbent takes on the role of interface between business units, technology and support teams in system enhancements initiatives. We need someone who can take charge of projects and deliver results that brings better value to the organization and its stakeholders. Our ideal candidate has the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and translate business data into digestible information that improves corporate processes.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understanding business process management and business requirements and translating them to specific software requirements
  • Meet with business users to gather requirements for project definition
  • Analyze existing procedures and evaluate requested requirements to identify system changes for new requests
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Evaluating the information gathered through workshops, business process description and task analysis
  • Acting as an interface between business units, technology teams and support teams
  • Convert the requirements and design documents into a set of testing cases and scripts that can be used to verify that the system meets the identified needs
  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to the organization and its stakeholders

Key Deliverables

  • Documentation of business requirements for system enhancements
  • Testing cases and scripts that are able to verify that system meets the business requirements
  • Interface between business units, technology teams and support teams are managed
  • Resolution (or timely escalation) of issues

 

Requirements at Hire

  • Possess at least a degree/professional IT qualification
  • Min 5-8 years working experience with IT project management experience OR previous experience in a similar position
  • Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design
  • Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures
  • Understands how legacy and web-based systems interface with each other
  • Able to troubleshoot average problems (or propose solutions) and identify complex areas for escalation (including when and who to escalate to)
  • Aptitude to quickly develop an understanding of new products and processes while being adaptable to change in working environment, processes and procedures
  • Highly motivated, has a positive attitude and proactive in day-to-day work and contribution e.g. in development/improvement of processes and methodologies
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage timeframes and deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure in order to meet external and internal commitment
  • Minimum skills prior to first customer interactions / job tasks
  • Familiar with industry best practices and processes relevant to day-to-day operations
  • Good product knowledge
  • Meticulous in day-to-day operational work
  • Excellent people / interpersonal skills (including verbal communication and writing skills)
  • Possesses good organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to learn independently
  • Willing to travel outstation and overseas (if required)
