Description
MSD's Regional Delivery Centers (RDC) – located across three regions (Americas, Europe, and Asia) are responsible for the timely and efficient delivery of standardized, global financial processes. RDCs will be responsible for the execution and delivery of Order-to-cash, Source-to-Settle, Accounting-to-Reporting and select FP&A activities across MSD business divisions and markets.
The Site Lead will be responsible for building the RDC footprint in Asia Pacific & Japan, which is in the early-stages of development. This role serves as the single point of accountability for the successful functioning of RDC operations and delivery of continuous improvement consistent with defined productivity metrics. The leader will also work seamlessly with the RDC leaders in Americas and Europe to ensure a common global approach is implemented. The leader will ensure accountability for the delivery of RDC services, established in partnership with MSD business and Finance functional leaders.
Additional responsibilities include managing and maintaining vendor and business relationships, RDC talent management, and accountability for the establishment, maintenance, and effectiveness of financial and operational controls across all processes managed by the RDC.
This individual must have strong leadership, communication, collaboration skills and a global mindset.
Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Establish, grow, and lead the RDCorganization and provide strategic guidance and direction to its employees; play a critical role in continuing to develop and refine the vision and strategy of MSD’s financial shared services organization (from a systems, process, compliance, policy, and procedures perspective)
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the overall Finance organization and broader MSD business; build and develop network and partnerships with key Finance and business leaders across MSD, specifically within the Asian region
• Act as the point of contact with local regional leaders to resolve concerns, understand business dynamics, cost structure, and strategy which may impact design and provide continuous feedback to the Finance Shared Services Leadership Team.
• In conjunction with the other RDC leaders, work to deliver a common global shared services model.
• Work collaboratively with the Global Process Owners to deliver improved and consistent end-to-end processes that provide positive business outcomes.
• Lead the overall execution of the processes and services within the framework of compliance obligations, accepted service levels, and specified metrics
• Identify opportunities to refine, standardize, and/or streamline global financial processes and operations to enhance the capacity of the shared services group as well as the quality of services delivered; voice recommendations to senior management
• Keep abreast of external trends and benchmarks and provide revised service level commitments that are configured to regional concerns
• Provide feedback to Finance Shared Services Leadership Team and Process Owner(s) on feedback of service, customer experience, and input on redesigning or updating services and processes in order to fulfill new standards of satisfaction
• Serve as a liaison to the global delivery center
• Prepare presentations and provide critical inputs for various meetings and discussions with senior management (e.g., FSLT)
• Understand the functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of MSD’s financial processes and systems, and ensure the existence of adequate internal controls at the RDC
• Develop and implement ideas on preventative actions resulting from audit data
• Create a diverse and inclusive environment
• Lead the RDC employees; identify and manage RDC employees, educate and empower them, and determine changes in team structural needs over time
• Oversee goal setting, sharing of best practices, workload balancing, teambuilding, professional development, and general operating parameters of the RDC
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA / CA preferred
• MBA preferred
• Minimum of 15 years of Financial / Accounting experience
• Fluency in English required. Additional capability in Mandarin and Japanese preferred.
• 10-15 years of experience managing large, international operations teams, including outsourced partners
• Demonstrated ability to lead operations in shared services preferred
• Demonstration of effective leadership, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills necessary to interact and influence senior management in both Finance and the business
