Job Description

A career in immigration practice will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients adopt a more strategic approach to global entity governance across their organizations. We help our clients to meet and manage their immigration obligations and solve complex problems. Our team specializes in providing immigration support across all of our clients’ disciplines. You will advise clients on their local and overseas immigration issues and exposures.

This role is focused on assisting with the immigration requirements of our clients' employees. It involves ensuring adherence to Immigration Laws and Regulations and delivering outstanding client service. The caseworker plays a vital role, whether they are assigned to a global account or a specific geographic region. They engage in close collaboration with clients, individual employees, legal teams, government entities, and various stakeholders. This collaboration is essential for facilitating efficient and well-coordinated immigration processes. The caseworker's responsibilities are crucial in managing the complexities of immigration procedures and ensuring successful outcomes for all parties involved.

The key responsibilities for this internship include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the end-to-end immigration process, including preparation of visa and work permit applications under supervision.
  • Support in preparing and reviewing immigration forms, petitions, and basic supporting documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Help interpret and apply immigration guidelines by researching rules and updates as required.
  • Assist in advising employees/clients on immigration steps, timelines, and basic requirements.
  • Maintain organized and updated case files, ensuring documents are properly stored and accessible.
  • Support commercial awareness activities such as timely time-sheet recording and basic billing coordination.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting documentation to government agencies and authorities.
  • Communicate and follow up with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders for information collection.
  • Coordinate with network offices, third-party providers, consulates, and immigration authorities to track case progress.
  • Escalate unexpected issues to senior team members and support in resolving them.
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders on assigned cases under guidance.
  • Use available tools and techniques to track trends or assist with basic data extraction and reporting.
  • Address basic client queries or requests, directing complex issues to senior team members.
  • Support in onboarding or shadowing activities for junior interns or new team members as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and regulations relevant to the role.

You Will Need To Display The Following

  • An interest in acquiring knowledge of Global Immigration law and practice and the life of a file from initiation through to completion.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to locate and research information efficiently, to use it effectively, and to evaluate the quality of the information
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential including the ability to relate to people at all levels
  • Managing various corporate immigration programs. Act as the main point of contact on the account and have the ability to assess and manage file work on various clients
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, excellent organization and administrative ability
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, use initiative and to work well under pressure / to deadlines
  • The flexibility to work outside normal office hours may be required from time-to-time.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree as a 2nd or final year university undergraduate
  • Eager learner with a strong sense of self-motivation and teamwork
