Description

Fintech News Network is looking for a News Writer who can turn press releases and announcements into clean, accurate news stories fast. We aren't looking for someone to copy-paste PR copy; we need a writer who can find the actual story inside an announcement.

You will work directly with the Chief Editor to cover the APAC fintech news cycle daily. Your mission is to keep our readers informed with well-written, search-optimized news that goes out quickly without sacrificing accuracy.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Daily News Writing: Turn press releases, funding announcements, regulatory updates, and industry developments into sharp, readable news stories in FNN house style.
  • PR Rewrites: Cut through the corporate jargon. Find the lead buried in paragraph four and put it in the headline.
  • SEO Optimization: Structure every story for search — headlines, keywords, formatting — so it ranks and gets read.
  • Publishing: Format and publish your own stories in WordPress, including sourcing images.
  • News Radar: Monitor the APAC fintech news cycle and flag stories worth covering to the Chief Editor.
  • AI-Assisted Workflow: Use Fintech News Network's internal AI tools to generate first drafts, then apply your editorial judgment — fact-checking, sharpening, and shaping them into stories that meet our standards.

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • A Clean, Fast Writer: You write copy that needs minimal editing, and you hit daily publishing targets without drama.
  • An Editor of Jargon: You can read a 800-word press release and instantly know what the actual news is.
  • AI-Fluent: You already use tools like ChatGPT or Claude in your writing workflow — and you know their output is a starting point, not a finished story. You can spot hallucinations, generic filler, and AI-isms a mile away.
  • Fintech Curious: You don't need a finance degree, but you must be interested in the space and willing to learn it quickly.
  • Independent: You are comfortable working remotely, managing your own deadlines, and delivering consistently without constant supervision.

Requirements

  • 1–2 Years of Writing Experience: Journalism, content, or comms. Fintech background is a plus, not a must.
  • Strong Command of English: This is the most important requirement. We want to see writing samples that demonstrate clean, accurate, engaging news copy.
  • Working Knowledge of SEO and WordPress: Or the ability to pick both up fast.

  • For interested applicants, please send in your CV and writing samples to jobs@fintechnews.sg
