Role Summary
Owns the structured cabling test program, ensuring compliant test execution, calibrated equipment, accurate results reporting, and efficient remediation/retest cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plan for copper and fiber systems: test scope, sampling strategy (if applicable), and acceptance thresholds per project standards.
- Manage test operations: tester allocation, calibration verification, tester configuration, and results upload/archival.
- Validate test reports for completeness and correctness; ensure cable IDs and endpoints match records and labeling.
- Coordinate defect remediation with install teams; track retest status and drive closure to meet turnover milestones.
- Support client witness test and audit requests; prepare summary metrics (pass rates, defect categories, aging).
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Hands-on knowledge of copper and fiber certification tests and common failure modes (NEXT/return loss, polarity, loss budget, dirty endfaces).
- Ability to operate and manage test tools (copper certifiers, OLTS, and OTDR where required) and interpret results.
- Strong data discipline: results management, naming conventions, and traceability to as-builts.
- Process management for remediation loops and prioritization to protect the critical path.
- Safety awareness for laser/fiber handling and field work in construction environments.
Certifications / Training:
- Preferred: Manufacturer test tool training and/or FOA fiber test credentials; BICSI TECH/ Installer helpful.
