This is an APAC legal managerial role to lead and oversee all legal activities across the Asia-Pacific region (Southeast Asia Pacific, Greater India, Greater China), ensuring effective legal risk management, governance, and business support.
The role acts as a strategic partner to the business and finance leadership, while managing and coordinating legal resources across the region to ensure compliance with local regulations and Group standards.
Responsibilities
Contract Management & Business Support
- Oversee and secure all contractual activities (customers, suppliers, distributors) across APAC
- Support region to review and validate key contracts, focusing on complex and big project, high-risk and strategic agreements
- Ensure consistent application of Group standards (T&Cs, templates)
- Support commercial negotiations and dispute resolution
Legal Governance & Risk Management
- Define and implement APAC legal risk management framework
- Ensure compliance with local laws and Group policies across all entities
- Establish/Improve legal validation processes for key business decisions
- Monitor and report legal risks to APAC leadership and HQ
Corporate & Entity Management
- Oversee legal structuring and corporate governance of APAC entities
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements in each country
- Coordinate board matters, corporate filings, and legal documentation with HQ
- Supervise company secretarial matters
Asset Protection & Insurance
- Define and implement insurance strategy in coordination with HQ
- Oversee claims management and ensure effective risk transfer
- Support major asset-related legal matters
- Support finance teams in legal aspects of debt collection and litigation
Litigation & Dispute Management
- Oversee litigation and dispute resolution across APAC
- Guide strategy with external counsel and internal stakeholders
Ensure proactive risk mitigation and dispute prevention
- Legal Training & Compliance Culture
- Develop and deliver legal training
- Promote a strong compliance and risk-aware culture across APAC
- Deploy Group legal initiatives and compliance programs
Regional Legal Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage, and develop legal resources across APAC
- Define legal operating model and resource allocation across regions.
- Manage external law firms and optimize legal cost efficiency
- Develop capabilities and provide coaching/training to legal teams
Requirements
- Law degree, qualified lawyer preferred
- 8–12+ years of relevant legal experience, including APAC exposure
- Proven experience managing legal teams or regional legal scope
- Experience in industrial / manufacturing sector is a strong advantage
- Strong expertise in commercial contracts and corporate law
- Experience in multi-country legal environments (APAC)
- Knowledge of compliance, insurance, and dispute management
- Proven ability to lead and influence across a matrix organisation
- Team management and development skills
- Strong stakeholder management across cultures
- Ability to read/write Chinese preferred due to job requirements
