ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
- Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital. 2. Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care. 3.Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
- Daily routine:
- Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
- Prepares and tidies beds, reclining chairs before arrival of patient’s and linens, and as needed.
- Provides drinks for patients and collects cups and meal trays after use.
- Keeps the patients feeling comfortable and cheerful by giving them blankets if they are cold, positioning them, and switching on the TV or radio.
- Keeps the unit area, store, fridge and its facilities clean and tidy.
- Disinfects beds and equipment, dialysis machines, reclining chairs, and cardiac tables after use.
- Answer phone calls and relay messages.
- Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
- Escort and wheel patients back to their cars after dialysis.
- Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results
- Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
- Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
- Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
- Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, intravenous lines, removing of cannula or AVF needle and dressing, etc.
- Priming of the dialysis circuit before treatment and terminating the circuit during the completion of treatment.
- Wash and rinse the dialyzer after and before treatment if needed.
- Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
- Records the daily charges for the items used in the unit and updates the patients’ charges accordingly.
- Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient if needed.
- Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics.
- Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses
- Attend meetings held by the service.
HUMAN RESOURCE AND DEVELOPMENT 1. Proactive in our own learning and development, and to meet the minimum requirement of 20 hours of continuing education per year. 2. Involve orienting new staff members to the unit routines and being flexible and adaptable to any new service that is implemented. 3. Maintain a record of personal leave and training attendance.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURE
- Adhere to the hospital's policies and nursing code of conduct, ensuring patient confidentiality and standard infection control practices are upheld.
- Ensure continuous improvement in quality, environmental sustainability, occupational health and safety, and the highest standards of patient care by adhering to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, along with implementing Patient Safety Goals, and maintaining other international and national accreditations.
FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
- Assist the trained staff in managing the proper storage, condition, and availability of biomedical equipment in the unit, maintaining a sufficient supply of ward stock, and maintaining accurate records for equipment, medical supplies, and consumable item specimen collections.
SAFETY AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES
- Participate in new services, comply with 5S activities, patient safety policies, and adherence to ISO, MSQH, JCI, PSG, BFHI and NNA, ensure comply with patient safety goals, and occupational safety measures. 2.Adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Other Regulations 2022, take reasonable care at work, cooperate with employers, wear proper PPE, and follow all safety and health instructions and measures.
- Carry out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act (Amendments) 2022 and Other Regulations: -
- To take reasonable care at work for the safety of yourself and other persons;
- To co-operate with your employer or any other person in the discharge of any duty;
- To wear or use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the employer;
- To comply with any instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.
Education
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia
- Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.
Knowledge And Experiences
- Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage
Special Skills Required
- Able to converse fluently and write in English language and Bahasa Malaysia
