Job Purpose:
We are seeking a hands-on and proactive EHS & Compliance Executive to oversee our furniture manufacturing site (200 headcount). The successful candidate will act as the company’s officially appointed OSH Coordinator, managing all statutory compliance, licensing renewals, and foreign workers' accommodation standards. He/she will serve as the primary liaison with relevant Malaysian government agencies.
(Note: Certified SHO / Green Book is NOT required for this role.)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Government Liaison & Statutory License Management
• Handle all new applications and renewals of company licenses, permits, and certifications to ensure continuous business operations.
• Act as the primary contact person to liaise, communicate, and coordinate with government officials during routine inspections, site audits, or surprise visits.
Manage government agencies including but not limited to:
• DOSH (JKKP): Manage inspections and timely renewals for machinery fitness certificates (PMA/PMT for air compressors, dust collectors, spray booths).
• JTK (Labour Department): Oversee and ensure compliance for Foreign Worker Accommodations / Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ) in alignment with Akta 446.
• BOMBA: Manage fire safety audits and annual renewals for the factory's Fire Certificate (FC).
• DOE (JAS): Monitor emissions and ensure environmental compliance for the woodworking and spray-painting production areas.
• Local Council (Majlis Perbandaran): Manage and renew premise business licenses and signboard licenses.
2. Workplace Safety & Legal Compliance
• Serve as the factory's designated OSH Coordinator under the OSHA 1994 (Amendment) Act.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections across the office and production floors (160 workers) to identify machinery hazards, dust accumulation risks, and chemical handling issues.
• Lead, implement, and update HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) for the manufacturing site.
• Investigate any near-misses or workplace accidents implement corrective actions, and prepare incident reports (e.g., JKKP 6 form submission).
Job Requirements:
• Certification: Must possess a valid OSH Coordinator Certificate recognized by DOSH Malaysia. (Candidates with a Safety Health Officer / SHO certificate but without a Green Book are also welcome to apply).
• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in a Manufacturing or Factory environment (Prior experience in the furniture, woodworking, or timber industry is highly preferred).
• Skills: Solid track record and practical experience in dealing directly with Malaysian government authorities (DOSH, JTK, BOMBA, DOE) and resolving compliance challenges.
• Languages: Good command of Bahasa Melayu and English (both written and spoken) is required to draft official government letters and reports. Ability to speak Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Attributes: High integrity, assertive in enforcing safety protocols, detail-oriented in documentation, and strong problem-solving skills.
