The Room Service Center Assistant provides personalized customer experience in assisting patients with nutritional food choices; as prescribed to optimize health and healing.

Required Qualifications:
• Must have Food Handler card issued by accredited provider (by first day of work) (https://www.env.nm.gov/fod/Food_Program/Regulation_Update.htm)
• Must be over 18
• Must work well in a team
• Good customer service skills and phone etiquette
Preferred Qualifications:
• General computer skills
• Self-directed
Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer phones in Room Service Center:
• Make answering phones a priority
• Wear phone headset when away from station
• Always answer phone promptly and courteously
Take meal orders from patients:
• Fill meal orders accurately 100% of the time
• Always prompts patient regarding condiments, beverages, etc to complete the meal
• Guide patient to appropriate food selections when patient orders food not compatible with diet prescription
• Call patients per time schedule who have not ordered
• Communicate special items to phone calls
Communicate with nursing staff:
• Communicate to nursing staff when patient refuses to order a meal, when patient states that family is bringing in food and when patient has not ordered and does not respond to phone calls
• Ensure that meals for patients with assigned meal times are ordered in the appropriate time slot
Enter meals for patients who are unable to order:
• Update list of patients needing assistance on communication board in office
• Enter meals for patients who cannot order – done 100% of the time
Update diet orders, patient meal count and diet change list for each meal:
• Prepare diet sheets for each meal
• Run set at closing
• Provide meal count to cooks
• Mark appropriate menus for patients with new diet orders for assistants to deliver
Assemble gift baskets for OB patients:
• Make and mark baskets for appropriate patients for assistants to deliver
Department Education:
• Attend department in-services and meetings
• Participate in QA/PI programs when assigned
Other Duties:
• All annual HealthStream modules successfully completed on time
• Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:
Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
• Other duties as assigned (demonstrates willingness and follows through with other duties requested)
