The Effluent, Environmental and Decontamination Chemistry team have a vacancy for a Research Technologist to support the provision of nuclear decommissioning and environmental clean-up services with an emphasis on effluent treatment and decontamination.

We are looking for a high calibre candidate with practical laboratory experience in a research environment who is motivated, has a proactive approach and solution orientated mindset, to carry out research. You will work closely with Technical Leads to deliver projects by providing experimental data, testing, and underpinning evidence to support existing effluent treatment plants, the decontamination and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and development of geodisposal options. You will be required to interact with a range of internal and external customers and collaborators, interpret research requirements, design and implement experimental and desk-based work and communicate results to stakeholders. This role will allow you to contribute to a wide range of nationally important decommissioning programmes as well as wider risk reduction activities both in the UK and internationally.

You will also have the opportunity to work on internally funded research in support of geodisposal, environmental radiochemistry, decontamination, and decommissioning. This will include engaging with European research partners on the EURAD programme, authoring high impact publications, supervising PhD students, and being actively involved in knowledge exchange with the nuclear industry. The Research Fellow (Grade 1) will  work with a team of researchers on the NHMRC Project “Unmasking HIV latency through disruption of HIV synapses”. The primary purpose of this position is to develop highly automated live cell image analysis pipeline to reveal the spatial-temporal dynamics of Ca2+-HIV synapse biology.

The appointee will be given the opportunity to:

• Collaborate with cell biologist at the Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, that study HIV replication.
• Work on live-cell imaging using state-of-the-art high-speed microscopy for 4D analyses.

Job Description

The multidisciplinary team of researchers in health systems (health services and policy researchers, data scientists, social scientists, and others), and administrators working in CRiHSP will provide an exciting and dynamic place in which people of diverse backgrounds collaborate towards the common goal of achieving excellence in Health Systems Research. The team will further benefit from a significant expansion in related fields and collaborations with the Department of family Medicine at the National University Health System (NUHS), the new Centre for Sustainable Medicine (CoSM) and the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Sciences Interventions (BISI) at the School of Medicine and the Saw See Hock School of Public Health.

LTMI aims to develop local infrastructure and deep capabilities in the development of molecular imaging technologies for guiding the advancement and translation of new imaging biomarkers to guide novel therapeutics in viral infectious disease.

The successful candidate will lead pre-clinical imaging efforts to validate novel imaging probes that target potential biomarkers of viral infection and host response. He/She will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution and communication of research. Feasibility and Study set-up: Contribute to the set-up of research studies within the wider research team. Liaise with the R&I Professional Services Team, Principal Investigators, support departments, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a thorough feasibility process. Able to identify and plan strategies for recruiting patients into trials. Working with Principal Investigators to develop initiatives to increase patient involvement. Support: Assist in the selection and recruitment of participants in compliance with study inclusion / exclusion criteria. Receive informed consent and provide ongoing information, education and support to clinical trial patients (and their carers). Assist in achieving NIHR High Level Objectives and GHNHSFT Key Performance Indicators for patient recruitment, speed and quality of research Liaise with multi-disciplinary team members to teach and demonstrate procedures for the safe and smooth running of clinical trials and act as a training resource to other members of the clinical team and a contact point in matters concerning trial patients and trial protocols. Ability to line manage, train and develop junior members of the team, act as a role model. Act as a supervisor for students as applicable to professional registration. Study Delivery/Monitoring: Good knowledge of clinical trials, including, but not limited to: Research Governance Framework, Good Clinical Practice for Clinical Trials. Job Description

Research Assistant

We are recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to support the Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Natasha Howard, in the implementation and administration of research projects in the areas of health equity, infectious disease control, and global health.

Responsibilities:
The research assistant will focus on research and administration in infectious disease control policy and health system strengthening in the Asia region. This will include:
• Supporting qualitative and quantitative research, including contributing to design, implementation, analysis, and write-up of journal manuscripts and reports/policy outputs.
• Project management and administration for multiple research projects, including ethics review applications to NUS IRB and study country review boards, donor reporting, and liaison with relevant teams in NUS SPH and internationally.
• Assisting the PI in other day-to-day tasks as required.

Requirements:
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject area.
• Excellent academic writing and communication skills in English.
• Experience of successfully managing multiple tasks concurrently.
• Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills and experience, including at least some experience with conducting or analysing semi-structured interviews, and capacity/interest to learn social science methodology.
• Highly organized and able to work effectively under pressure, use independent judgement, produce high-quality quality work, and problem solve within time constraints.
• Able to work independently as well as with a team.

Desirable:
• Degree or relevant experience using social science methodology.
• Experience with Atlas.ai/NVivo and R or similar, and capacity/interest to learn.
• Experience of research in global health and/or health policy and systems.
