Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Data Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Costa Rica/Mexico. Our client is an online personal styling service that leverages advanced AI, machine learning, and expert stylists to deliver personalized clothing recommendations. As a data-driven retail platform, it combines technology and human insight to transform how people discover and shop for clothing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with strong expertise in data modeling and data pipeline development
- Hands-on experience with Spark and working with S3-based data warehouses
- Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and gathering stakeholder requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify and drive complex problems forward
- Solid production-level coding experience in Python and SQL
- Proactive, innovative mindset with the ability to take ownership and adapt to new challenges
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale data engineering solutions, including ETL pipelines and data models
- Contribute to the development of a centralized data engineering framework for ETL logic and metric definitions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions
- Drive technical discussions and contribute to a culture of scalable, high-quality development
- Identify opportunities for improving data infrastructure and propose impactful, data-driven initiatives
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Develop and maintain production-level code using Python and SQL
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of data pipelines and data systems
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of engineering practices
