Senior Construction Manager

Role Overview

The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end construction delivery of mission-critical data center projects. This includes overseeing planning, coordination, execution, and handover while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead multiple large-scale data center construction projects simultaneously (greenfield and/or brownfield).
  • Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Drive contractor performance and ensure alignment with project goals.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary interface between internal teams (design, engineering, operations) and external stakeholders (contractors, consultants, authorities).
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.

Construction Oversight

  • Oversee all on-site construction activities including civil, structural, architectural (CSA), and MEP systems.
  • Ensure adherence to design specifications, local codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor progress and proactively resolve site issues.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSE regulations.
  • Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and enforce safety protocols.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Oversee commissioning readiness and support integrated systems testing (IST).

Cost & Schedule Control

  • Track project costs, manage change orders, and mitigate budget overruns.
  • Identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans when needed.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Select, onboard, and manage general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Evaluate performance and enforce contractual obligations.

Commissioning & Handover

  • Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure successful system startup and validation.
  • Ensure proper documentation, as-built drawings, and smooth transition to operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 5+ years in data center or mission-critical facilities.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale, complex construction projects (>$100M preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of CSA and MEP systems in data centers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hyperscale data center operators or large colocation providers.
  • Familiarity with Tier III / Tier IV standards (e.g., Uptime Institute classifications).
  • Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or LEED.
  • Experience in fast-track or phased construction environments.
