Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Analysis:
- Develop and maintain cost models for products and processes.
- Analyse costs of materials, labour, and overhead to support pricing strategies.
- Conduct variance analyses to identify discrepancies between standardized costs and actual costs.
- Manufacturing Costing and Stock Valuation:
- Assist in setting up the manufacturing costing and stock valuation methods in accordance with accounting policies.
- Bill of Materials (BOM) Validation:
- Verify the Bill of Materials (BOM) and perform validation on the monthly manufacturing costing data.
- Update standard costs in the BOM and review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets.
- Prepare cost forecasts based on historical data and market trends.
- Monitor budget expenditures and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance.
- Production Overhead Review:
- Review production overhead and variances to ensure accuracy of product costing.
- Prepare and present regular cost reports to management, highlighting trends and insights.
- Fixed Assets Management:
- Responsible for fixed assets transactions, reconciliation, reporting, and capital expenditure (capex) tracking.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, procurement, and sales teams to gather relevant costing information.
- Support project managers in cost estimation for new projects and bids.
- Audit Coordination:
- Coordinate and liaise with internal and external auditors as required.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Implement best practices in cost management and assist in the development of policies and procedures.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies related to costing.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
- Other Duties:
- Undertake other ad-hoc tasks as directed by the superior.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is an advantage.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in a costing or finance role, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Accuracy of cost reports and variance analysis.
- Timeliness of budget submissions and forecasts.
- Identification of cost savings and efficiency improvements.
