The Engineering Technician (AC System) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems throughout the hotel. The role ensures all HVAC equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with hotel standards to provide a comfortable environment for guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Operations & Maintenance
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment, including chillers, FCUs, AHUs, split units, package units, and ventilation systems.
- Monitor and maintain HVAC system performance to ensure optimal efficiency and guest comfort.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, plant rooms, and equipment areas.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed according to established schedules.
Repair & Troubleshooting
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and HVAC-related breakdowns.
- Identify equipment faults and perform repairs in a timely manner.
- Replace defective components such as motors, thermostats, filters, compressors, belts, and control systems.
- Coordinate with external contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities.
Energy Management
- Monitor energy consumption and recommend initiatives to improve energy efficiency.
- Assist in maintaining optimal operating conditions of HVAC systems to reduce utility costs.
- Support sustainability and environmental programs related to energy conservation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, engineering procedures, and hotel policies.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices when performing maintenance.
- Handle refrigerants, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment defects immediately.
General Engineering Support
- Assist with general engineering and maintenance tasks as required.
- Support emergency repairs and operational requirements across hotel facilities.
- Participate in renovation, refurbishment, and project-related works when assigned.
- Provide technical support to other engineering team members.
Administration & Reporting
- Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment records accurately.
- Update preventive maintenance schedules and service reports.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and report stock requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation of equipment performance and maintenance history.
Requirements
- Certificate, Diploma, or Technical Qualification in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, preferably in a hotel, commercial building, or facilities environment.
- Strong knowledge of air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and on-call duties when required.
