The R&D Packaging & Design Excellence Intern supports the team in delivering packaging development and design-to-print execution excellence while gaining cross-functional exposure.
The intern will rotate and contribute across two key areas:
1. Packaging Specialist Support (Structural & Material)
Support activities may include:
- Assist in packaging development for NPD, renovation and productivity projects
- Support packaging specification updates and documentation
- Participate in packaging testing (drop test, seal integrity, material validation)
- Assist in factory trials and validation activities
- Support sustainability initiatives (material reduction, recyclability assessment)
- Coordinate sample preparation and shipment
- Maintain packaging databases and technical documentation
Learning exposure:
- Packaging material structures (flexible, rigid, corrugate)
- Basic understanding of barrier properties and sealing systems
- Cost and feasibility considerations
- Factory and supply chain interaction
2. Design Excellence Support (Artwork & Print)
Support activities may include:
- Assist in artwork file review and version tracking
- Support color setup and artwork adaptation checks
- Help prepare print trial documentation
- Attend print trials and press approvals (where applicable)
- Support archiving of color targets, print samples and approved standards
- Coordinate with design and repro agencies on file updates
- Assist in tracking artwork project timelines
Learning exposure:
- Artwork development lifecycle (creative → local adaptation → execution)
- Basic understanding of color management and print processes (gravure, flexo, offset, digital)
- Print specification and fingerprint concept
- Right-first-time artwork readiness principles
