About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II (Backend Developer) to join our Operations & Technology Fraud Products team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing new capabilities for Mastercard's Decision Management Platform, which plays a critical role in combating fraud and verifying cardholder identities. This platform, built on a patented Java-based architecture, processes billions of transactions each month within milliseconds, ensuring high performance and availability through a multi-tiered, message-oriented approach. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in backend development, particularly within complex, multi-tier software environments. Candidates should have a solid understanding of Java, J2EE, and RESTful web services, along with experience in database management using Oracle and SQL scripting. Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Maven, and containerized environments like Kubernetes or OpenShift is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions by writing clean, efficient code aligned with business requirements and Mastercard standards.
• Collaborate closely with technical leads and cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize backend systems.
• Assist in resolving production support issues by acting as a subject matter expert, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of incidents.
• Plan, design, and develop technical solutions, including detailed test strategies, performance benchmarks, deployment plans, and contingency procedures.
• Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives, vendor solution evaluations, and technology assessments to stay ahead of industry trends.
• Conduct knowledge sharing sessions, including brownbag presentations on emerging technologies and best practices, to foster continuous learning within the team.
• Mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and support throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ensure comprehensive testing coverage, including unit, system, integration, and performance testing, to maintain high standards of quality.
• Perform code reviews, security assessments, and walkthroughs to ensure compliance with Mastercard’s security and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance team productivity and software quality.
