About The Role

As a React Native Mobile Developer at Fig, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our mobile applications, ensuring they are performant, scalable, and user-centric. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend engineers, to deliver innovative features and optimize user experience. Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess over five years of software development experience, with at least three years dedicated specifically to React Native for cross-platform mobile applications. Proven proficiency in React Native core principles, Expo (including EAS), TypeScript, and modern state management solutions such as Jotai, Zustand, or Redux is essential. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in profiling and optimizing complex mobile apps, resolving performance bottlenecks, and building scalable, modular Design Systems. A solid understanding of network/data fetching layers, including experience with server data management tools such as Tanstack Query, SWR, or Apollo, is required. Strong product sense, user-centric design focus, and experience with backend integrations, particularly REST APIs, along with familiarity with cloud platforms like Firebase, Supabase, or GCP, are also important. Bonus points include experience with native development (Swift/Kotlin), mobile testing frameworks, CI/CD processes, and familiarity with JSI libraries like Reanimated v2+.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile application using React Native and Expo (EAS).
- Architect and enhance a high-performance Design System employing TypeScript and component API best practices, ensuring component reusability, clear styling tokens, and comprehensive documentation, including Storybook integration.
- Develop and maintain the core Network Layer, ensuring efficient data fetching, robust error handling, effective caching strategies (using React Query or similar libraries), and streamlined data transformation.
- Drive app performance optimization by reducing re-renders, minimizing bridge traffic, leveraging JSI for smooth animations, and optimizing bundle and startup times to deliver a consistent 60 FPS user experience.
- Take full ownership of core mobile features from concept through deployment, ensuring high quality and timely delivery.
- Contribute to maintaining high code quality through rigorous peer reviews, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
