About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with a strong focus on PHP to join our talented engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust backend systems that support our AI-driven SaaS platform. Your work will directly impact the core financial workflows used by enterprise clients, ensuring that our systems are secure, reliable, and scalable. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of system architecture, data integrity, and API development, with a passion for writing clean, maintainable code. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex financial systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our platform.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a combination of education and experience, including a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent practical experience. You should have at least three years of proven backend development experience, with strong proficiency in PHP and MySQL. A comprehensive understanding of MVC architecture, API-driven design, and secure authentication and authorization systems is essential. Experience integrating third-party APIs and payment gateways, coupled with excellent debugging and performance optimization skills, is highly valued. Candidates should be familiar with SaaS or product-based environments and demonstrate a high ownership mindset, proactively addressing issues without waiting for instructions. Fluency in spoken and written English is required, along with the ability and willingness to work US business hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services using PHP, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Create clean, normalized, and maintainable MySQL data models that support complex financial workflows.
• Build secure, well-structured REST APIs to facilitate seamless integration with frontend systems and third-party services.
• Refactor legacy codebases into modular, testable components to improve maintainability and performance.
• Integrate third-party APIs and payment gateways securely, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Optimize database queries and backend processing to enhance system performance and responsiveness.
• Handle edge cases and ensure compliance-driven workflows are accurately implemented within the system.
• Document technical specifications, API endpoints, and system architecture clearly for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and frontend developers to deliver production-ready features.
• Take ownership of bugs and issues in production, investigating root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, scalability planning, and best practices for backend development.
