About The Role

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer I to join Astra Security’s dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge cybersecurity platform. Your work will ensure our systems are scalable, reliable, and secure, enabling our product and engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of cloud computing, automation, and security, contributing directly to Astra’s mission of redefining cybersecurity standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and influence the evolution of our infrastructure to support rapid growth and technological advancements.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP and AWS in production environments. A strong understanding of cloud compute, IAM, networking, and integration services is essential. You should have demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, along with designing container-based topologies aligned with well-architected frameworks. Exposure to Service Mesh technologies like Istio and proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible are highly desirable. Experience in developing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and scripting automation in Python and Bash is required. Additionally, knowledge of observability and security best practices, including tools like Prometheus, Cloud Logging, and GCP Monitoring, is crucial. Candidates should think in terms of reliability SLAs, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

As a DevOps Engineer I at Astra Security, your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, automating, and scaling containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-hosted solutions.
• Architecting and managing cloud infrastructure on GCP and AWS with a focus on scalability, security, and performance.
• Automating provisioning and configuration management through tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Developing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable fast and reliable deployments.
• Implementing comprehensive monitoring and logging frameworks utilizing Prometheus, Cloud Logging, and GCP Monitoring to ensure system observability.
• Embedding security and reliability best practices into every layer, from IAM policies to deployment strategies.
• Defining deployment strategies across staging and production environments, including blue/green deployments and rollback mechanisms.
• Writing clean, reusable automation scripts in Python and Bash to support operational efficiency.
• Integrating service mesh technologies such as Istio for traffic management and observability enhancements.
• Collaborating with product and engineering teams to align infrastructure with business goals and technical requirements.
• Documenting systems, processes, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and scalability.
• Proactively identifying reliability bottlenecks, managing incident responses, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
