Optum is hiring a Grade 27 Software Engineer to build AI-powered solutions and claims testing automation. The role combines Python engineering, generative AI, DevOps, and technical leadership to improve healthcare operations.

Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in Python software engineering
- Solid focus on AI and data solutions
- Experience with modern web frameworks
- Deep knowledge of generative AI frameworks, LLM orchestration, agentic AI, prompt engineering, and RAG patterns
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Vector DBs such as ChromaDB
- Expertise in GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Airflow, and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with cloud deployment and Kubernetes-hosted applications
- Solid background in automation, data pipelines, and microservice architecture
- Demonstrated ability to deliver AI-powered web applications
Qualification

- B.Tech
- MCA
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field
- Graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field
- Equivalent practical experience in a related field
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and deploy large-scale AI and data-driven applications
- Lead design and implementation of agentic AI workflows and RAG patterns
- Integrate generative AI solutions with enterprise databases and cloud platforms
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for production-scale deployment and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on AI-powered features such as natural language querying, data comparison, and visualization
- Develop automation scripts and utilities for data processing, archiving, and system maintenance
- Establish best practices in code review, testing, and documentation
- Participate in customer presentations and handle critical issues
- Use approved GenAI tools to accelerate ideation, code generation, test generation, documentation, debugging, and productivity
- Apply AI-assisted development responsibly and validate outputs before use
- Develop workflow automations and internal productivity accelerators
- Design and deploy AI-enabled or automation-enabled solutions using approved platforms
- Translate business needs into technical solutions
- Prototype quickly and validate assumptions with stakeholders
- Design and implement automated claims testing solutions
- Develop and maintain test automation frameworks for claims-related systems
- Integrate test automation with CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing
- Collaborate with QA and business analysts to define test cases and automate regression testing
- Monitor test coverage
- Analyze claims data using AI and machine learning to identify anomalies and improve reliability
- Provide technical leadership in claims testing automation and drive process improvements
Additional Responsibilities
- Comply with employment contract terms, company policies, procedures, and directives including work location, team, shift, flexibility, and alternate work arrangements
- Follow responsible AI, privacy, security, intellectual property, and data handling expectations when using AI tools
- Stay current with emerging GenAI engineering practices, prompt patterns, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled SDLC opportunities
Nice To Have
- Foundational experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including deployment, configuration, or operational support
- Experience with healthcare claims, benefits, authorization, or clinical platforms
- Experience with Facets, CSP, or related healthcare modernization platforms
- Experience with container platforms and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with OpenCV, Keras, TensorFlow, and other ML libraries
- Experience with AI-assisted SDLC practices, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, prompt engineering, test generation, code explanation, or productivity automation
- Experience creating technical documentation such as design notes, API specifications, troubleshooting guides, runbooks, or operational readiness checklists
