About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves a hands-on approach to software development, focusing on automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality across various open-source repositories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories and possess the skills to contribute meaningfully to the design and implementation of datasets that facilitate realistic software engineering problem-solving for LLM training. You will have the opportunity to lead initiatives, collaborate with researchers, and influence the future of AI-assisted software development.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record in managing complex codebases and contributing to open-source projects. Expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript is essential, along with proficiency in Git, Docker, and setting up software pipelines. The ability to understand, modify, and run real-world projects locally is crucial. Experience in evaluating or contributing to open-source repositories is advantageous. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive mindset towards automation and software quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges and opportunities for LLM evaluation.
- Set up, configure, and maintain development environments, including Dockerization and environment automation.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and code quality to ensure datasets are robust and representative of real-world scenarios.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that are challenging for LLMs, contributing to dataset diversity and coverage.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and sharing best practices.
