About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our innovative team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves contributing directly to projects that aim to improve the understanding and performance of LLMs in realistic software engineering tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of high-quality public repositories, automation, and software development best practices. Responsibilities include automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and code quality. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI research, influencing the future of AI-assisted software development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript. Experience with version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and familiarity with setting up and maintaining software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand complex codebases, modify and run code locally, and evaluate software quality. Prior experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is a plus. Additional skills in automation, environment setup, and troubleshooting will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges for LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and development.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and code quality, providing insights to improve robustness and reliability.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and identify repositories and issues that are challenging for LLMs, contributing to dataset expansion and validation.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
