About The Role
BNP Paribas Global Markets in Bangalore is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tech-Lead to spearhead the migration and modernization of legacy data tools. This pivotal role involves transitioning existing Scala-based systems to a more efficient architecture centered around Python and Oracle SQL, aligning with the COMPASS 2.0 and NEXT roadmap for 2026-27. As a Tech-Lead, you will be responsible for designing high-performance data solutions, refactoring legacy applications, and ensuring seamless integration with current platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and hands-on development to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in software development or data engineering. Demonstrated expertise in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including query tuning, indexing, and stored procedure optimization, is essential. Advanced proficiency in Python, particularly with Pandas and NumPy for data manipulation and ETL processes, is required. Experience leading small development teams, mentoring junior engineers, and working within Agile or Scrum environments is also necessary. Strong communication skills, analytical mindset, and the ability to work under pressure are critical attributes for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze complex business requirements, proposing scalable and sustainable technical solutions.
- Design comprehensive end-to-end data architectures and workflows that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
- Architect, develop, and optimize high-throughput data pipelines using Python (with Pandas and NumPy) and Oracle SQL/PL-SQL.
- Refactor legacy Scala applications into maintainable and efficient Python/SQL services, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Collect, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources to generate client contribution and revenue metrics, supporting strategic decision-making.
- Enhance overall application architecture to improve service quality, scalability, and reliability for business users.
- Prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively, balancing urgent operational needs with long-term strategic objectives.
- Proactively troubleshoot technical issues, implement preventive measures, and ensure system stability and performance.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and understanding.
- Collaborate with global teams across Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong to ensure data integrity and alignment with global strategies.
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies such as data warehousing solutions, AI/agentic tools, BI platforms like Tableau or Power BI, and monitoring tools like ELK Stack to enhance platform capabilities.
