About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP & WordPress Developer to join our dynamic remote team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced developers who excel in custom WordPress theme and plugin development, PHP programming, and project leadership. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex WordPress websites and applications. You will oversee multiple projects, collaborate closely with digital marketing and project management teams, and mentor junior developers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SEO, particularly Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and possess the ability to implement advanced web security measures and performance optimization strategies. This is a full-time, remote position with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions within tight deadlines, contributing to our continued growth and success in the global digital landscape.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in PHP and WordPress development, including extensive work with custom themes and plugins. Proficiency in Core PHP, along with familiarity with frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP, is essential. Strong expertise in WordPress customization, WooCommerce, APIs, hooks, filters, and custom post types is required. The candidate must possess excellent skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with a keen eye for UI/UX design. Deep knowledge of MySQL, database architecture, and query optimization is necessary, along with a solid understanding of web performance best practices, caching strategies, and Core Web Vitals. Experience working with REST APIs, third-party integrations, and secure coding standards is mandatory. Additionally, familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and SEO, especially AEO-SEO, is highly desirable. Strong project management, leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills are also essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of custom WordPress websites, ensuring high standards for security, scalability, and performance.
• Design, develop, and optimize WooCommerce modules, themes, and plugins tailored to client requirements.
• Build and enhance applications using Core PHP and popular PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
• Implement and optimize websites for AEO-SEO, including structured data, schema markup, and AI-friendly content handling to improve search visibility and AI indexing.
• Customize front-end experiences with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to create responsive, pixel-perfect user interfaces.
• Ensure adherence to Core Web Vitals, performance optimization, caching strategies, and best development practices across all projects.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs, third-party services, CRMs, payment gateways, and automation tools to extend platform functionalities.
• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, quality standards, and client expectations.
• Mentor and review code from junior developers, fostering a culture of best practices and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a strong focus on security, following OWASP guidelines and secure coding standards to safeguard applications and data.
• Collaborate with project managers, digital marketing teams, designers, and clients to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design principles.
