About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP & WordPress Developer to join our remote team. This is a full-time position designed for professionals with a minimum of seven years of solid experience in PHP and WordPress customization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of bespoke WordPress websites, including custom themes, plugins, and WooCommerce modules, ensuring enterprise-level quality, security, and scalability. You will play a pivotal role in overseeing multiple projects, collaborating with global teams, and mentoring junior developers. The role demands a proactive approach, strong technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. Working remotely, you will align your working hours with Australian time zones, starting at 6:30 AM IST, and commit to a full eight-hour workday, Monday through Saturday, with paid leave benefits.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in PHP and WordPress development, including extensive work with custom themes and plugins. Proficiency in Core PHP, familiarity with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP, and expertise in WooCommerce are essential. Strong command over front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery is required, along with a deep understanding of MySQL database architecture and query optimization. Candidates should demonstrate a solid knowledge of web security best practices, performance optimization, and adherence to web accessibility standards like WCAG 2.1. Experience working with REST APIs, third-party integrations, CRMs, and payment gateways is crucial. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, with Tamil being an added advantage. Candidates should also be adept at project management, team leadership, and working within structured development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, customization, and maintenance of high-quality WordPress websites, ensuring security, scalability, and performance standards are met.
• Develop and enhance applications using Core PHP and popular PHP frameworks like Laravel, CodeIgniter, or CakePHP.
• Implement SEO strategies, including structured data, schema markup, and AI-friendly content optimization, to enhance search visibility and AI indexing.
• Customize front-end experiences with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery to deliver responsive, pixel-perfect UI/UX designs.
• Ensure compliance with Core Web Vitals, optimize website performance, and implement caching strategies for faster load times.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs, third-party services, automation tools, and platform functionalities to extend website capabilities.
• Manage end-to-end project delivery, ensuring timely completion, quality assurance, and client satisfaction.
• Mentor junior developers, review code, and promote adherence to development standards and security best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, digital marketing teams, and clients to translate business goals into effective technical solutions.
• Maintain platform security, implement OWASP guidelines, and ensure platform stability and reliability.
• Prepare project documentation, plan workloads, and communicate effectively within the team and with stakeholders.
