About The Role
Sikich India is seeking a highly skilled Back-End Web Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in building, maintaining, and optimizing server-side architectures that power our clients’ websites and applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in developing scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions across both traditional monolithic WordPress environments and modern headless architectures. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including UX designers, front-end developers, and strategists to deliver reliable, maintainable, and innovative digital solutions that meet client needs and business objectives.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have at least 5+ years of professional experience in back-end or full-stack web development, demonstrating a robust understanding of modern web technologies and architectures. Proficiency in Next.js is essential, along with experience supporting or building headless CMS architectures such as Sanity.io or Sitefinity. Candidates should have strong knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and their integration with back-end APIs, including REST and GraphQL. Experience supporting WordPress sites through custom themes, plugins, and APIs, as well as solid skills in PHP and MySQL, are required. Familiarity with web performance optimization, security best practices, and scalable architecture is also necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in agency environments or multi-client projects, and those familiar with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems like Git, and SEO considerations.
Responsibilities
The Back-End Web Developer will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our clients’ digital platforms. Core responsibilities include:
- Headless Architecture Development and Support: Building and maintaining back-end systems that support headless websites, including Next.js-based front ends consuming data via APIs.
- API Development & Integration: Creating and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs, and integrating third-party services such as CRMs, marketing platforms, analytics tools, and external data sources.
- WordPress Development: Supporting and extending WordPress-based sites, including developing custom themes, plugins, and APIs to enhance functionality and performance.
- Data Management: Designing and optimizing database structures, queries, and data flows to ensure system reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Performance & Security: Implementing best practices for application performance, including caching, authentication, data validation, and security measures to safeguard client data and ensure compliance.
- Collaboration: Working closely with UX designers, front-end developers, and strategists to ensure back-end solutions align with user experience, SEO, accessibility, and overall business goals.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Debugging issues, supporting existing client sites, and continuously improving code quality, system stability, and performance.
