About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL DBA & DevOps professional to join our team in Mohali or Pune. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing and optimizing MS SQL Server environments in cloud-based multi-region deployments on AWS and Azure. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can ensure the high availability, performance, and security of mission-critical systems. As part of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our cloud database infrastructure, automating deployment processes, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support scalable and resilient systems. Immediate availability is a must for this position, and the candidate should possess at least 8+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven expertise in SQL Server administration and DevOps practices. Essential qualifications include a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience managing MS SQL Server environments, particularly in live production settings. Experience with multi-region high-availability configurations in AWS and Azure is critical, along with deep knowledge of AWS RDS for SQL Server and Azure SQL Database. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in query optimization, performance tuning, backup and restore procedures, and disaster recovery planning. Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python are required, along with experience in building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively under pressure in high-stakes environments are also essential.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize MS SQL Server environments in live, multi-region AWS and Azure production deployments to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
• Manage SQL Server instances on AWS RDS and Azure SQL Database, implementing high-availability and disaster recovery strategies across regions.
• Design, implement, and maintain cross-region disaster recovery plans and failover strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Perform proactive capacity planning, performance tuning, and query optimization to meet evolving business needs.
• Implement automation for database provisioning, scaling, patching, and lifecycle management to streamline operations.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions for seamless database and application deployments.
• Support Infrastructure as Code initiatives, configuration management, and cloud-native DevOps practices to enhance deployment efficiency.
• Develop scripts and tooling for migrations, upgrades, and environment standardization, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.
• Enforce security best practices, including role-based access control, encryption, and auditing, to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
• Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with engineering, cloud, and security teams to design scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
• Provide guidance and best practices on database architecture, cloud deployment, and operational excellence.
